Excuse me for a moment while I SCREAM!!! Budget & plans just crashed and burned!!!

I have to agree with some of the recent posters. I'm a Mother of two college students and would never think of taking them out during the semester. There is so much course work and studying involved as well as extra studying the final two weeks before finals........special study groups etc. When you are spending the "big bucks" for a college education you want them to do there very best. I have recently planned a trip for next August. I have no idea what the boys will be doing and what I've said to all of them..........I've rented the condo.......hopefully we can all get together for the trip. My oldest wants to do an internship this coming summer so I have no idea if he will be able to join us and my middle son wants to start a co-op and will also probably be working.........such is life. If it just turns out to be Me, my dh and my youngest (16 yo) - I'll have him invite a friend and possible us to invite a friend as well. You don't say who all was to go on the trip.........I would either nix the daughter and invite a friend or replan the trip for another time........JMHO

It is ok(more than ok) to post the codes- we can all use them!
You might want to put them on the transportation board too!

With the parks closing early during December I'm sure there will be evenings when we want to head out to the Outlets, go exploring, etc.. If I were going alone it would be a different story, but I just can't see us going back to the hotel and sitting around during the evening hours..

I just wanted to share our experiences, I hope they are helpful. My mother, dd and I went last December for six days. We spent en evening at MGM doing Fantasmic, one evening at MVMCP, and two evenings at EPCOT. We stayed at the BCVillas and poked around the Boardwalk one evening.

We did not feel like the parks closed early with this schedule.

Good luck with your planning!

Back again!

The codes for Alamo are:

Rate code: NC
Promo: 803021

---------------------

For a rental beginning the evening of Thanksgiving - or the day after - it made a SUBSTANTIAL savings over everyone else - on a compact car.. I didn't try Nov. 29th or 30th though because we can't get flights then..

Moving further on, I used the codes for arrivals of Dec. 2nd and on and in some cases it was cheaper and in others, National (with the rate code: wweb contract i.d.: 5760339 was cheaper..

Hope someone else finds these helpful!!

Thanks for sharing! :D Sounds to me like you're talking about children though.. My DD is in her 30's - a wife and mom - already established in a career - and has been to college before.. She'll only be taking one evening class in the fall (if she gets into that class at all) and as an adult, knows better than I exactly what she is or isn't capable of - and what her limitations are.. She's not "shy" about telling me EXACTLY how she feels about things either, so if she didn't think she should make the trip (or didn't want to make the trip) she would not hestitate in the least to tell me so.. She's aware that I have a back-up plan (I have a friend that moved a couple of hours south of Orlando who said she would love to come up and stay at the hotel to go to Disney with me) so it's not like I can't (or wouldn't) go without her.. Heck - if it ends up that I buy 3 airline tickets and only get to use one, I may even get that other trip next October out of this!! ;) Of course that depends on SW and their voucher policy - as I'm not sure how that works..

I agree with you though.. If I had "children" attending college on a full-time basis, I wouldn't even think about having them miss out on several classes!! I hope their ventures work out for them - they sound like very dedicated and enterprising young men! :)

Rate code: NC

Just need to know what/where the codes are from..so we know if we need a coupon, etc.
Thanks.

SW doesn't actually give you vouchers..they credit your account for up to one year..then you use your "banked" money to buy the next flight on line. Keep the confirmation number from any flight cancelled..you'll need it for making the next flight. I'm not sure how it works if you cancel just two seats..I wonder if youhave to cancel it all and rebook yourself...but I"m sure their super friendly people on the phone will let you know if you come to that.

Code came from: www.rentalcarmomma.com

Also - SW - does the one-year clock start ticking from the day the reservations are purchased - or the day that the flights are cancelled??

I believe that the clock starts ticking from the date of original purchase. I've done it twice and I'm pretty sure that is it.

Did you consider going after your DD's finals? The early part of the week shouldn't be too busy and you can always find something to do even if it is busy.

I am so sorry C.Ann!! I hope it all works out for you!

I understand what you mean when you say you feel an urgency...I am dealing with the same sensation about our upcoming trip. My parents (after years of begging) called us up and said they wanted to go to Disney this year with our family. We were so excited(Mom has been quite ill the last few years) and we were worried about the $$ since we went last year. But then we had some 'miracle' twists of faint...REALLY cheap($59 non stop 1 way) airfare and a 5bdrm house 3 miles away for $650 (including tax!) for 8 nights. So we booked these feeling that this trip was meant to be and may never happen again.
All the airlines and house are non refundable ...
Then my DH(who is a dairy farmer) hit on really really bed times on the farm....milk prices are less than in 1970! and the weather has hindered the crops terribly. Now our fear is that we already paid for a big portion of our trip and we have no clue how we are going to pay for a rental car, food and park hoppers!!!!

But I feel way down deep that this trip is important somehow...between Moms health, DD hitting teenhood and highschool, great rates that just begged us to buy. I HAVE to make this work....
Ebay is helping....wish it was going better(ebay id is momswarehouse...tips appreciated!!)

I hope all works out with you! Good luck!
