DS and I wanted to do the dolphin excursion on 3-28 cruise, but it is sold out. Anyone know if they keep some to sell on the cruise, or is that it? Any info/secrets will be great.:Pinkbounc

You never know when some might become available. I just cancelled the Dolphin Encounter for 4 during our March 4 cruise. I convinced DH that it would be much more fun to go to Discovery Cove next year!

We are on the 4 day Wonder. Is this website good for this cruise? Have you ever done an excursion on your own? I was nervous to do this since I will be traveling alone with 6 year old DS.

Thanks:)

Here is the link for the dolphin encounter/swim in nassau.
www.dolphinswims.com If i remember right 6yrs is to young for the swim, not sure about the encounter.

Keep calling! People cancel all the time!

I would make sure you were waitlisted and call regularly! Good luck!

I booked our encounters and swims directly with Dolphin Encounters, use the link above. DCL only offers the encounters and our two teens really wanted to do the swim, so I booked it all directly. The six year old can do the encounter. Enjoy! (also, I have been told DCL saves some to book onboard, but not many, so I would try the direct route)

On the 7 day Western, no matter how you booked for the dolphin swim, you did it at Chananaab Park. Disney's excursion was called the Encounter and you barely touched the dolphins, booking directly allowed you to book a Royal Swim and you swam and interacted with the dolphins. We used the link provided above and we were told that they only had 2 slots left. We asked if we could possibly squeeze in 2 more and they said sure. I'd call and ask directly, and for the same price as Disney's excursion you can have a better time.

definately book directly. On our recent cruise it was windy in Cozumel, Disney cancelled all excursions. We were however still able to swim with the dolphins because we booked directly.

How far ahead can you book excursions?

through Disney it is 60 days from sailing. If you book directly I don't think there is any set time, book whenever.

Try shoretrips.com. This is where I booked our wonderful dolphin swim in Chankanaab, but they also book shore excursions in other ports so this may work out for you. We were very happy with this company.

how do i book directly?

:smooth: Can you please tell me if you have problems with the transportation to an excursion not planned directly through DCL - I would love the dolphin swim - but never cruising before makes me very nervous to go to far and worry about transportation?? Thanks Lisa

We are doing the Dolphin Swim on Cozumel in June, and are planning on taking a taxi. Use the search on this board to check Cozumel taxi fares, and you'll get an idea of what to expect. Most people have had no trouble getting a cab, but some have had trouble getting the fare they expected to pay in some places back to the ship. But I haven't read that happening for Chanankabb where the dolphins are located, and from what I have read the asking price went up a couple dollars or so-not nice but not a budget buster either.

We got a taxi fine in Cozumel. There are a ton of them ready and waiting. The fare (for 4 people) was $10.00 there then $10.00 back. When we were ready to leave there were taxis waiting in front. No problems at all. Just say "Disney" and you are on your way! Just make sure to agree to price before getting in. Have fun!

Kantner,

I just noticed we are on the same cruise. I am traveling with DH, DD 11 and DS 9.

Just one more thing- Taxi cabs were 10.00 but taxi vans (think yellow minivans) were 16.00. We asked the taxivan driver if he'd take us there for 10.00, he said no, so we went to the next taxicab instead and 10.00 was fine. Remember that it costs 10.00 per person to enter Chankanaab Park, no matter who you book through.
