I know we can book excursions ahead of time via the www, but do you know if DCL reserves some excursion spots for people to secure once on ship? The dolphin encounter is sold out, but I'm wondering if we keep checking back and then head to the excursions deck when we board if there are excursions available to book at that time. It just seems to me that not everyone has internet access or knows about these boards or just is generally unaware of DCL's policies.

Yes, it has been reported that DCL holds back some reservations for people who didn't/couldn't book on line. We do know that they hold some back for the concierge. If cat 1-3 guests don't use those ressies, they are made available to the general population. People cancel all the time. Check on line regularly, and then try again as soon as you board...and the next day or so. On board, they maintain a waiting list for some excursions.

I have no personal experience, but it has been reported on the boards that they will refund your $ for a cancelled excursion IF they can fill your slot...thus, the waiting list.
