Haven't been on the boards for quite a long time! We are DVC members and did DW so many times between 2004 and 2010 that we actually got tired of it! Shocking I know! Last year we decided to do DL to use up those points and although it was a great vacation it just isn't the same as DW.

Booked a cruise over Christmas (not Disney as it is too much $$ and my kids at almost 14 and 19 don't care which line we go) and since it was out of port canaveral we decided to book a night at Saratoga to use some of our points! Only 1 night before we fly out but I am really looking forward to being back again! No parks this time but lots of Dtd Mickey shopping to get my 'fix'! And of course I am hopeful the resorts will still be decorated on the 28th so we can go see them all again!

We're kind of in the same boat. Haven't been to WDW for 5 years maybe? We've been to DL a few times as that's a short trip for us, but I'm really feeling the pull of WDW. I'm just trying to get over the guilt of going without DS who is in college - he LOVES WDW! He's grudgingly getting used to us going on vacation without him, but he'll be wishing he could go for sure.

Good to see you back. I too have been taking a break. Still love WDW but my kids now 11,13 and 15 have discovered cruising and loving it. Cruising out of Port Canaveral next week and it seems weird to be in and around Orlando without hitting WDW. Haven't done the Disney cruises yet.. maybe someday. Like you found them too expensive for now.

Planning a big disney year in 16/17 when I have a year off and hoping to do DL for the first time along with WDW and euro disney. Haven't started planning for it yet though. Just know I need to be in WDW on June 1 2017 for our 20th anniversary.

We have been looking at doing a cruise. From port caneversl as well. What cruise line do u guys like? We r looking for March 6 to thr 15 th.

We've done lots of cruises..... Carnival is ok..... Have done a few caribbean from florida and San Juan..... Great prices usually and not too bad! Norwegian was ok (we did them to alaska) but I didn't like the dining and the fact that they have so many extra charge restaurants..... Felt like they were constantly trying to get more money off us. Celebrity was by far our fav cruise...... Right from the dining to entertainment to the ship and service..... Great experience! Princess was ok too.... Nothing terrible. This will be our 2nd time cruising over Christmas!

My 19yo just finished college in April and is now working full time..... So I can see that there will be vacations in our future that don't include him.

I would agree. We've done one Carnival cruise. It was ok. Just ok. Then we went on Celebrity 4 times. They were all outstanding from start to finish. I highly recommend Celebrity.

Cruising is addictive. All the features of a resort stay with the bonus that the resort takes you places.

Secret of getting good prices on DCL is to book when they first go on sale. It means you are waiting for 12 -18 months and need to plan well in advance. The price on our March Break cruise more than doubled from the time it went on sale to the cruise date. Currently waiting for 2015 dates to open to move the dummy date we have.

Haven't done Carnival. Kids are still young and the ship atmosphere is important. NCL was okay. Will do them again for the right itinerary. Friends have done Freedom of the Seas (RCCL) out of Port Canavaral and loved it. We have Royal booked for Aug 2014 and can't wait.
