We're leaving Monday for our first holiday trip to Disney and our first trip as a DVC'er. It was the only time we could all get off and DS not miss school, but we're leaving my Mother behind (she would never want to go and is handicapped and lives in an assisted living where she gets excellent care and has many friends)but, we always spend Thanksgiving with her. Has anyone else felt like this about DVC and leaving relatives for the holidays? DH thinks I'm crazy since we see her daily and will be here for Xmas and only be gone for 5 day this time.

I can see where you would be somewhat torn on this, and I think it's a perfectly normal feeling for any close-knit family.

If you're feeling guilty about it, put yourself in your mother's shoes. Would you want your daughter to feel guilty about taking a family holiday trip? Especially if that same daughter visits you almost every day?

My guess is you would want your daughter to enjoy the time with her family. And not to feel guilty.

Good luck, and enjoy your holiday. :)

I agree with granny, it sounds like you do more then most as it is. Go and injoy, you owe yourself and your family some of your time also. Its sounds like your mother will be with friends and not alone.

It sounds like your mother will be fine. It's nice you can have a family trip. Remember, you won't have your daughter living under your roof forever, so this trip will give her some special family memories.
