Excited about the Future! OT slightly...

Hello I just wanted to share our family's good news... My husband has been in the Military for 21 & 1/2 years....Long years full of many separations, overseas tours, and most recently, his 7 month tour to Afghanistan. Needless to say, our family has become very tired of all the separation, unstability and stress of military life. Well, the opportunity we have all been waiting for since Sept. finally materialized. My husband got his phone call he's been waiting for since Sept.... He's been accepted to join the Sheriff Dept. which means.... Retirement from the Forces and "HELLO New JOB!!"
We are all so excited for him, as this is a stable, Mon-Friday job, no more tours over seas, long separations, or moving for us! Drawing his pension and with his new salary, we will be close to, or slightly better financially than what he made in the military.... My husband is jumping for joy
He starts his recruit training on Feb. 17th, and is looking forward to his new career. Now, all I am hoping is that he will be able to secure the 12 days off in Sept. (Sept 1-12) that we need for our Disney vacation We have all the flights booked and package/reservations booked. I hope we do not run into problems with him taking those days off...
I just had to share our good news as we have been hoping for this opportunity for so long! Thanks for sharing in our happiness!

First of all THANK YOU to your husband for his service. I have always said it does not matter if you are for or against the war, we as Canadians must recognize that people are away from their families for us!! THANK YOU!!

Secondly, congrats on the new life change!! It is going to be an adjustment for all of you, but I am sure this is going to be a great change for everyone in your family!!

Finally - see you in Disney!! We are there from Aug 29 to Sept 7 (we are looking at extending it by a few days and cannot decide when...). We were there Sept 1 to 12 last year, so I can tell you it is a great time to go!! You are going to LOVE it!! Perhaps we can meet up for a quick ride

I am so happy for you ..take care and hope you have a great Disney holiday...most employers are pretty good about things like that.....you will enjoy AKL...I was there with my oldest DD in October......
