So, my MIL just called and said her and my FIL are seriously considering coming to Disney with us if we stay at the Wilderness Lodge. (this is a blessing, because we could use the extra help with the kids.) Not only was I expecting to go deluxe this year, Wilderness Lodge just does not excite me. I don't know if it's because it doesn't have a "tropical" feel, or if I'm just being biased towards BC.

For those of you who are WL fans, can you make me excited to stay there??

We've stayed at the Y&B a few times.....they are great resorts if you're really into EPCOT (which we are not) and we've found SAB to be way over crowded for our liking....so on ward to the WL...

WL, we've stayed here over 10 times and it's the only resort we look at anymore (we've done 45 trips to WDW) it suits our purpose perfectly....we like being on the lakes, we prefer the MK area better than anyother, we enjoy the boat to the MK, FW and CR (since we never rent a car), the resort is compact, all under one roof and easy to manuever around....

Bus transportation has been fairly decent (occasional longer waits to DTD), pool is quite charming, pleasant native american music piped around, EWP nightly, nightly movies on the beach and best of all....one of the cheapest deluxe resort on property (other one is AKL, which we don't like at all)...

After all that was said, EPCOT resorts are more to the adults liking (other than the pool at Y&B) but we spend more time at the MK (our children are grown and gone) and the atmosphere around the 3 monorail resorts (easy access via a boat to CR) can't be beat for dining, lounging and shopping...everyone has their preference and favorites....thru all the years and many different stays at most of the deluxes...bottom line for us is the WL....just so peaceful after a day of chaotic parks, off the beaten path (not too many day visitors jamming up the resort) plenty of paths to walk, especially the one trail over to FW........I think you made a great choice, saved alittle cash......enjoy it...

I'm going to just throw this in here. we have only stayed at WL once, but it is a beautiful resort, easy access to MK, the bus service was pretty decent, it never really felt all that crowded. It was all in all just a great experience. Boat service to MK, CR, FtW, the free form pool was nice, the geiser was exciting and would shoot up unexpectedly.

It was just a fun resort for us, it didn't have that stuffy feel to it some of the other Deluxes have. You could find little spots hidden away just about anywhere and relax without a care in the world. We were on the ground floor (which I don't normally like), but it was very quiet and tucked away, we had a view of the pool and it was still quiet.

We were going to stay there in January, but I wanted to try the BWI/BWV.

Think majestic, soaring lobby with massive stone fireplace; huge timber beams meeting like gigantic tinker toy logs adorned with craftsman-style light fixtures in the shape of native American tipis with wild animal shapes carefully incorporated in the motifs all over the hotel.

You'll stroll through beautiful courtyard grounds with a running stream feeding the pools starting in the lobby, and finishing down by the periodically erupting geyser over by the lake...

You'll stay in rustic rooms with balconies or patios, dual sinks, separate bathing area, and beautifully carved headboards over the queen-size beds, along with specially woven carpets, stone wall and floor accents, tiffany-style window casings adorning comfortable nooks and crannies along the atrium walkways where you can sit and relax and enjoy a mid-morning snack, lunch, or a cup of tea while you recharge for the next park trip.

Your kids can enjoy a kid's entertainment venue (babysitting) that they'll love, and will allow you some adult-only time while you're on vacation...

I miss it -- it's been a year since we've been... :sad1:

Here is a link to my review from our stay last summer.

One of the highlights of staying at WL for me was hanging out at pool and eating dinner. Our kids would swim while I ordered food from Roaring Fork. We would then eat dinner at a table by the pool. It sounds so simple but it was nice and relaxing. It is a beautiful setting. Becareful not to sit too close to the geyser or your food will get wet.

WL is awesome!! Really! I stayed with my family, and even though we didn't have any younger children with us (my parents, my sister and me--both teenagers) we saw a lot of kids having so much fun there. It's simply a great atmosphere.

We loved the location of the resort. Granted, you said you stayed at BC, so perhaps you'd feel differently, but I thought the resort had a great location! Not too far from anything!

I thought the theming really worked for the resort. It really transports you to such a different place, away from the theme parks completely. You really do feel at home there.

Have a great time!! I'm sure you'll love it!!
