Exchanging tickets/FP+ question

We will be at WDW over Labor Day weekend after our cruise. I have some old tickets (ie, 30 years old) that I will exchange to use. We've done that several times in the past but it has to be done in person at a ticket counter. This has never created any issue in the past, but now I'm wondering how impossible it will be to get FP+ reservations since we won't be able to do them in advance. We are arriving in Orlando on Aug 20 and doing a few days at Universal before our cruise, so I could get the tickets done then and try to make FP+ reservations then (about 10 days in advance), but concerned that won't be early enough since people are booking rides months in advance. What do you think 10 day advance or same day FP+ availability will be like? I think doing any parks over Labor Day weekend will be tough without FP. My only other option is to send the tix to a friend that lives down there locally and ask her to do me the favor of exchanging and sending back to me so I can link to my resort reservation (staying at BC) ahead of time, but that's kind of a pain. Thoughts?

I don't think you should have problems making FP+ 10 days in advance. Based on reports on here and from people I know, they haven't been having any problems booking any of the popular rides or attractions with the exception of A&E and even that, I know someone who booked about a week in advance for 2 diff days (they were only 2 people). Also wanted to add that I always go over Labor Day (including this year!) and it's not a busy time at all. With the exception of 2-3 top attractions per park, we don't normally wait more than 15-20min per ride. Don't worry, IMO you'll be just fine. Have a great trip!

Thanks! Also, do you know if there's a ticket office I can do the exchange at DTD or do I need to do it at one of the parks?
