Exchanging points

We're new to DVC and might try to exchange points for a one-week stay in Ireland this Summer (if available and I know it's short notice). If I'm reading the paperwork correctly, will it cost us $75 just to do a search to see if there are any properties available or not? Thanks...

While is says nonrefundable, it is refundable if they don't find you a match or you cancel before a match. Otherwise it's up to the discretion of the exchange department as to whether to refund the fee or not. IMO, having members pay up front was what should have happened. I hear it's really cut down on frivolous exchange requests.

Thanks...one last questions....If they find a match and it's not the property you were hoping for are you still charged or is it still the discretion of the exchange dept?

AFAIK, they can only match you with something you listed as acceptable.

If you are asking if you have to pay if they match a second or third choice, the answer is yes, you do.

If you put it on the list, you are stuck. If they offer you something different than what you requested, it is up to you to accept or not. If you accept, you have the same $75 obligation.
