Exchanging Half Board vouchers for face value

Hi, hope someone can confirm as I can't find any threads which mention this in the search...

When exchanging any of the half board vouchers for their face value will it take the voucher value off your entire bill or just the food that is ordered?

I'm just wondering whether we would be best off going to half board premium, if you can get if off the entire meal i.e. any wine that is ordered with the meal, it may be worthwhile.

Most of the days we could probably justify the premium plan in our resterant choices but a couple of the days maybe not. If it covers any drinks you may order I think I'll do it. (not that we are alcoholics or anything! )

They took the total value of our vouchers from our total bill when we used them at face value a couple of weeks ago.

but do you tell them when you are seated that you have vouchers?? or just when you pay the bill??

tinks it depends how you want to use the vouchers.

If you want the vouchers to be used as full payment for your meal, plus usually a soft drink included, you tell your waiter once you are seated. Also, at table restaurants (not buffets) you may be offered a different menu if you are paying in full with your half board voucher.

If you just want to use the half board voucher as face value towards a meal at any restaurant, you don't have to tell your waiter until he has brought your bill.

Thanks for the confirmation everyone. Not that we drink a lot but I can see from looking at the menus that our bill will almost always be more than the face value of what we have booked once you add a bottle of wine or a couple of G&T's I think we'll upgrade!

Also good advice about using them and letting them know you have the vouchers when you are seated.
