Exchange rates

Hi All

I have only just found the UK boards so I thought I would introduce myself and ask a very boring question

I am going to Disney on the 5th September (CANT WAIT!!!) - and am currently looking into getting my foreign currency. Has anyone got any lately, if so where have you found the best rates? I have looked on moneysupremarket.com and the like, however I'm never sure if to trust the information, especially as the rates fluctuate all the time!

Any advice/guidance would be gratefully received

Just got ours for flying out on the 7th sept, used American express last Saturday and got 1.53 exact for a £1000 exchange

Didn't want to hang ona and risk it falling tbh

Thanks very much Sounds like a pretty good rate, and I have heard that Travelex usually have very good rates too.

the rate seems to have gone up a little over the last few days

I have to transfer money to my US bank account so I guess I get slightly different rates but yesterday i got 1.55.. today is 1.56..

When I bought cash last year I just trawled the TA's and price matched until I got a better deal

I need to get £1500 changed,"yep i one ofthose who prefer to take cash with me then cards" I like it all put out in daily amounts that way what we dont spend we see add up for anything we want to take home

The rate has bee awful lately but luckily the last few days its started to creep back up! Im just wanting it to hit 1.56 and all grab it! I hope by holding out it doesnt drop again

Hi welcome MagicTilly to the uk Dis...

We have pre-ordered ours from Travelex to collect airside at Gatwick when we fly on 3rd September. We got just over 1.53 which was what we had in our minds we wanted so that was great. But yes we always find Travelex very good..

Interbank is hitting 1.58 at the moment and FairFX is just over 1.56 which is the best it's been in a while - almost 2c up from this morning!

You get a better rate if you do a "fast rack purchase" and then go and pick it up in person. The reason I like these people is it's a very good rate $1.57 as I type and you don't give them any card details or have to pay for you money beforehand (remember the Crown Currency fiasco ) You just order online and then go to the shop and hand over your £s and pickup your $s

buy buy buy!! I've always wanted to say that

We ordered our currency just over a week ago so its a chance you take by waiting. We aren't taking a whole load of dollars this time as we have the free dining. Plan to do a bit of shopping but not sure we really need much this time. I even have a shop load of clinique stuff that I got last year in Vegas, so sort of sorted. The difference in $ for us is only about $35 so not too horrific...Normally when we go in November we think of Christmas presents but this time there is just no way I can think about Christmas in September!
