Exchange Rate

Hi,
According to the BBC finance site the Pound is at a 52 week high against the Dollar today. Good news for people who are planning a visit soon.

Does that mean that the rate will go up here so we get more for our pounds? If it does go up I`m going to buy some now for our holiday next summer.

its at just over $1.89 here in Northern Ireland today

The bank rate at 13.31 on 24/11 is $1.93 to the pound. Marks & Spencer always have an excellent exchange rate so I may have to change some tomorrow as the tourist rate they offer should be around $1.87 to the pound tomorrow as long as the dollar holds at $1.93 throughtout today.

How long do you think the rates will stay like this is it just today/tommorrow and then they'll go back down?
I was going to go to M & S on monday and change some up should i try and get in tomorrow instead?

I am going to go in tomorrow as it could go up or down on Monday. The US markets appear to be slow today as it was Thanksgiving yesterday.

It's hard to know what to do as it could carry on going up on Monday but I don't think that I'll take the chance and plan to head to M&S in Camberley tomorrow or Sunday.

Well it's a bit difficult for me to get in tommorrow but i might have a look on the internet and see what it is, i remember my Mum's old boss used to watch the exchange rates all the time when he had a post office and he said the rates were nearly always higher at the beginning of the week, this was a few years ago now so don't know if this seems to be the case now or not?

It's really tricky and you never know what to do for the best. I notice that you are from Devon, my parents live in Hope Cove in Devon. It's a small world!
