Exchange paper UT ticket for Disney plastic card ticket?

I bought a bunch of NE 10 day hoppers from UT before Disney pulled the plug on them. Can I exchange these paper tickets (danger of ripping, etc) for a plastic version at the ticket window? I think I had to do this (exchange paper to plastic) a year or two ago when they changed the gate entries from strip readers to RFID (pre-FP+ too).

If I can exchange, will the ticket "benefits" (days, and plusses) remain the same - just transferred over from paper to plastic?

If I have one already assigned in MDE - will that goof anything up?

Thanks

Yep, any ticket window can do it. All ticket entitlements remain the same. Having one linked to MDE shouldn't be a problem.

I wonder how long UT kept selling the paper tickets after Disney stopped, it seems Disney was selling paper ones to them for a lot longer than to the general public. But my more recent ticket from UT from February this year was plastic though

This. I'm surprised that the UT tickets are not already plastic.

Aren't "paper" tickets actually Tyvek (same stuff as weatherproof home wrap ) that is quite difficult to tear? Or was that just AP's?

Although it doesn't really matter because I think you would want/need RFID for FP+ Usage.

Yeah, they're probably Tyvek. Still makes me nervous though.

Maybe my most recent batch was plastic. I have quite a few - some from this past year and I still have some from prior years. I've "hoard bought" when the new prices were announced, and then really "hoard bought" big when they announced the NE was going away.

Yes, you can do what you are asking. I just did the same with all of my old 10 non-expire tickets. They are all the plastic RFID tickets now. Does not matter if they are attached in MDE.

Did make me nervous though. You have to give up the paper tickets that are clearly marked 10 day non-expire hoppers to receive the generic plastic cards. The CM gave me a sharpie to write on the tickets how many entitlements are left. I had them to check to make sure they are still non-expire before leaving guest services.

Is there any reason not to keep the tyvek ones? Can't you upload them to MDE anyways?

This is me too! I hoard bought "a few" also......

I've had some older paper ones (might have been 2007) that I had a lot of trouble adding to MDE. I went through all of the old pass types on MDE - none of them matched so I couldn't enter them. I called Disney and they said I would have to wait until I got there, which wasn't going to fly because I wouldn't have been able to make any FP ahead of time.

I finally got them added by scanning them with the MDE app.

That is how I added them too. I scanned them with my iPhone. I think the oldest ones I have are 2008 and they are the NE ones. The rest are regular MYW tickets.

You can exchange those "paper" tickets at any Guest Service locations or at the park entry. The CM will be a iPad to process the exchange. It takes about 5-10 mins. I did it in Guest Svc at DTD as well as MK & EPCOT. The line in DTD was longer but didn't take away my precious rope drop time.
