Exchange Disneyland tickets

Has anyone tried to exchange unused Disneyland tickets for Disneyland, or get a refund? I purchased 5-day Disneyland Resort parkhopper tickets last month online on Disney's website using their Canadian offer, but now with the fires, we may have to cancel or change to Disneyworld. One of our kids has severe asthma and I'm afraid to take her there then have the winds change. The hotel I know we can cancel (booked separately). Just need to figure it out with the passes and flight. TIA!

You can always try to plead your case but ticket purchases clearly state no refunds. I don't think they will transfer them to WDW either as I've seen folks ask here about the opposite and I believe the consensus is that its a 'no' as the two parks have separate ticketing systems and there isn't really a way to "transfer" things over. Sorry!

I'm not sure when your trip is, I'm assuming soon. Air quality is quite good throughout most of the Southern California basin at the moment. The fire in Ventura/western LA county is quite a ways from Anaheim as well. We were there last weekend when that fire was "fresh" and still burning out of control. You could see the smoke but it was higher up in the atmosphere-actual particulates at ground level really weren't bad at all (I'm an asthmatic as well and can often "tell" long before others. I didn't feel it at all). Typical wind patterns in the SoCal area, especially this time of year, would not generally bring heavy smoke and particulates from the Ventura/Malibu area to Anaheim, at least at ground level. You can monitor airnow.gov to see how things are going.

The San Francisco Bay Area is a whole other deal... my kids school was cancelled today due to smoke and we ended up deciding at 5pm yesterday to leave the area for the weekend (see previous note about asthma).

The air around Disneyland really is not a problem with the current fires (as noted by a PP).

We were headed up to San Francisco this weekend and cancelled... we'll be at Disneyland all day on Sunday now.

Being smoked out will always be a threat for any trip to Disneyland. Seriously, CA is covered in fire hazards across the state and especially in that area. You will never be able to guarantee a no smoke trip. Therefore, I’d go on your trip and then leave early if smoke starts flooding the area. The odds of actually being smoked out are very low, it has happened but it’s VERY uncommon.

Those thoughts aside...
*MAJOR CAVEAT to the following: I do not know if the normal ticket rules are different for Canadian discount tickets. IF they operate under the normal ticket rules...

People can try to plead their cases for refunds but I haven’t seen a single DP on anyone getting refunded for ANY reason in the last year.

You can’t apply the value to Disney World tickets. The tickets will retain their purchase price value and you can use that towards another Disneyland ticket if they expire.

CA is forecasting rain coming in for some around Wed as long as the high pressure ridge off the coast breaks.

Disney World: are you thinking of switching this seemingly soon trip to WDW? Like, you know it’s American Thanksgiving next week and Disney World will be swamped right? The best Table Service restaurants were booked out 6 months ago. The best FastPasses were booked out 2 months ago. Heck, being a holiday the mediocre FastPasses were probably booked 1 month ago. Tickets are now variably priced on the date there so if you haven’t looked at the ticket prices in the last month check again.

A couple US airlines are waving change fees for the area- but only as long as you travel to the same place on a slightly different date. Getting your money back on flights could be hard, if not impossible...

I’d have cancelled too :( SF’s air is horrid right now!

OP, unless you were planning on staying in Los Angeles, the air quality is totally fine for Disneyland.

Agree with all the above posts. As for air quality, another reassurance from another asthma sufferer. We were at the parks last weekend when the fires were more active, and I was able to swing dance at the parks without any respiratory problems. As for exchanging your tickets or getting a refund, as other posters have said, you can always try, but there are no guarantees. Your tickets clearly say that they are non-refundable, non-transferable, and not for resale. The good news is that should you decide that cancelling your trip really is best for your family, your tickets should retain their original monetary value. So if you plan another trip to DLR, you would take those tickets to the booths and apply them toward new tickets. You would only be charged the difference in price if an increase occured in the meantime. (Don't throw the original tickets away!)

Another person from the Bay currently choking on smoke near SF.

My mom and I are escaping to Disneyland a day earlier than we'd originally planned (would go even earlier if I didn't have work tomorrow) to get away from the smoke in the Bay. Anaheim is not showing anywhere near as bad as what we'll be leaving behind.

I would still go with it. The state is huge and even with large parts on fire, it's not affecting absolutely everything. The air quality last I looked still shows in the green for Anaheim (it's in the purple for where I am). Just stick to Disneyland. No LA trips (and I do agree with those that cancelled SF trips.... besides not being healthy to be here, you can't see any of the beautiful views).

I don't have severe asthma myself, but it is exercise induced and smoke does tend to aggravate it (this week has been an absolute blast :crazy2:). I'm beyond looking forward to more clear air for a week.

Or you could call Disney and plead your case.

I'm going to San Francisco tomorrow and then heading down to LA on Thursday. Unfortunately a lot of my bookings are not changeable now, but managed to change my SFO-LAX flight out on Thursday to early morning instead of late night instead (thanks to United travel waivers) so at least I can spend Thursday in Anaheim instead of SF.

I've been keeping a very close tab on the air quality indicators and it seems that Anaheim has been fairly ok for the last few days, so hopefully it stays good!

Just remember if you want n95 masks buy them where you’re coming from. News reports they’re hard to get hold of in SF.

For reference of air quality, where I’m at in the Bay Area the air quality index is currently at 224 and Anaheim is at a 50. Even from the LA fires, I don’t think Disneyland is experiencing the negative air quality very much.

Yup. N95 masks sold out everywhere in the Bay Area a week ago so I’d bring them with you if you can.

Thanks for the advice! I actually live in a part of the world that gets really bad haze from forest fires every few years or so (the last bad one was I think 3 years ago when we hit a PSI of over 300 and that was no fun, though occasionally we get slightly milder haze), so N95s are available everywhere here. Just found a bunch on sale at an electronics/computer store of all places, so picked up a few for my trip...

If at all possible I'd like to avoid N95s though, I really hate wearing them and they're so much more uncomfortable than regular surgical masks... Fingers crossed that the air quality will be slightly improved by the time I get there? (Can always hope I guess!)
