EXCEPTIONAL stay at the Contemporary!

Hi guys!


Just got back from 4 nights at the CR May 26 - 30. We were in room 7179 and room 7178 in the North Wing. They were GRRRRRRREAT! The carpet had been replaced and the wallpaper replaced. The rooms were spacious and clean. My two year old LOVED the patio and he chased the rabbits all afternoon! It was wonderful to be able to watch the fireworks while sitting on the patio...ahhhh.

Even with the resort being at full capacity we did not hear a PEEP at night and we went to bed around 11:00 every night. The only bad spot was a group of about 20 pool hoppers that the poor lifeguards tried to oust. They wouldn't go and threatened the lifeguards. No security was called....I think the life guard was scared to cause a scene with all the kids....they left about 2 hours later.

Oh...the new "credit cards" for the resort arcade was GREAT! No more having to worry about my 11 year old losing quarters!

ETA: I almost forgot to add......We got these rooms for $144.00 per night with a code....that made it all the more sweeter!

how about the pools? wondering if you enjoyed them as well.
you said resort at capacity, so was that a problem.

and what is the "credit card" for arcade....do you purchase a card up front?

Thanks for the report! I'll be at the CR in December. I've never been to WDW to stay, only day trips. How is the transportation from the CR to the other resorts...I've planned some dinners at restaurants in the GF, Poly, and WL and I'm wondering about how long it takes to get around with disney transportation, I won't have a car while there. Also about how long does it take to get to Pleasure Island (for La Nouba)? Thanks!

California Grill was too good! LOL...It is always a favorite and it did not disappoint this time! The flat bread was my favorite! We had a PS at 8:30 and had a window seat to enjoy wishes....it was magical!


The pools were GREAT! My oldest son loves this slide over all others. He says it is the biggest and fastest! The resort was also perfect for my two year old b/c there is a kiddie "water playground" here. I don't care for kiddie pools b/c of the high feces content! The Contemporary has fountains that shoot up from the ground and the area is not concrete....it is that rubber/squishy material...so if they fall....they won't get hurt!


The arcade - You no longer use quarters...you go to the red machine by the old pac man game and feed it however much money you want on the card....it then gives you the option for "new card"...press that. Voila...you have a "credit card" for the games!

The GF and Poly are on the monorail and you will be there in 10 minutes....15 minutes TOPS! You can take the boat to WL and that will be maybe 20 minutes on a busy night.

The only things I didn't like about the card in the arcade were:

- It's WAY too easy to use up your money....

- I may be wrong about this, but if you ended up with a small number of credits left on the card, they were "lost". For example, the game with the lowest number of required credits I found required 13 credits. I had a card with 11 credits left on it - so there was no way to use them, except to put more money on the card.

I had a card with 11 credits and my kids had cards with other similar amounts, but there is no way to use more than one card on a game, so we ended up leaving with credits on all of the cards.

For those unfamiliar, there are machines in the arcade where you can insert money. These replace the old token machines. You can choose to either create a new card or "recharge" an existing card. If you create a new card, a card spits out with a barcode on it, and it has a number of credits assigned to it based on the amount of money you put into the machine. If you recharge a card, you swipe it and the credits are added to that card.

Each of the games in the arcade has a reader and you swipe your card to play. The game shows the number of credits required to play, and many are odd numbers - for example, 13 credits or 17 credits.

If I remember correctly, $20 gets you something like 1000 credits. Anyone recall if this is right?

My kids liked it too. It's not as "pretty" as some of the other resorts, but my kids always wanted to make sure we left the parks early so they could get back to the water slide before 8 pm when it closed.

We were there the 2nd week in May and at night around 9 pm there were maybe 5 other people in the pool besides us, and I usually had the hot tub to myself.

I still wish I would have had time to rent one of the speed boats. None of my kids would go with me - they refused to believe that I could drive a boat. They were afraid I would "crash" (into what I don't know).

LOL!!!! My hubby took my 11 year old out on a speed boat at the Contemporary when he was 8. Well, my stup.....oh...I mean daredevil hubby tried to jump the wake of the ferry! The water went ALL in the boat and they sank!!!! Yep...a rescue boat had to come get them. My 11 year old won't go near the boats!

LOL!!!! My hubby took my 11 year old out on a speed boat at the Contemporary when he was 8. Well, my stup.....oh...I mean daredevil hubby tried to jump the wake of the ferry! The water went ALL in the boat and they sank!!!! Yep...a rescue boat had to come get them. My 11 year old won't go near the boats!

That's funny.

I wouldn't do anything daring like that because I can't swim.

A few years ago, we went on a speedboat ride at the Jersey shore. It was a HUGE speedboat called "The Twister" - it held about 30 or 40 people. It was OK in the bay, but once we got out on the ocean, it got a little choppy. We stopped to watch some dolphins and I started to get seasick (I held it in, but just barely).

Then we took off and went a few miles out to sea, and the boat was really moving, bouncing and skimming the tops of the waves. My two youngest sons were very scared and now they won't go near anything that is called a "speedboat".
