Excellent Transportation, one unfortunate experience

Just returned from a five day stay at Pop Century. While I know some people complain about the transportation to and from the resort, ours could not have been better. We never waited more than a few minutes for a bus either at the resort or at a park. We were pleasantly surprised. The unfortunate experience came one evening when we were returning to the hotel from Epcot. A young man behind me in line was complaining that his girlfriend was wasted because they had "done ten drinks in ten countries" he told me. She was indeed very drunk and appeared to be on the verge of being physically sick. When an AoA bus pulled up before ours, she ran to get on it and he went after her. A security guard stopped them and spoke with them. Then when our bus arrived the security guard spoke to the driver. The couple got on the bus (which never should have been allowed IMO) and the boyfriend cursed for the entire trip because she wanted to be sick. Finally, a father sitting near them told the boyfriend to stop the language and a semi-shouting match ensued. I felt terribly sorry for the woman sitting beside the girl because she had nowhere to go to get away from her and we were all afraid the girl was going to be sick on the woman. When we arrived back at Pop everyone stood back and let the couple get off and we all thanked the vocal father for putting the young man in his place. It was not the kind of experience one expects at WDW and in over 30 trips, we have never seen such a disgrace. Can one be ticketed for public drunkenness at WDW since it is technically private property?

That's why I'm surprised Disney encourages excessive drinking with their "drink around the world" cards. How are they going to give you a ticket when you accomplished filling your card?

Yes they can. They can be removed from property and issued a trespass citation from OrangeCounty. When I worked food and wine a few years back I was witness stated on a handful of trespass citations. It is against the rules you agree to upon entry to display drunk behavior.

Frankly, I thought the drink around the world cards were a myth. Guess I was wrong. And I agree that a cab would have been a much better idea. The lady that was being hovered over by the drunk girl was in a wheelchair and couldn't get away from her on the bus.

There is no official drink around the world card. During Flower and Garden and Food and Wine there are "Passports" which you can mark what you have had but it lists drinks and food not drinks exclusively.

I know lots of people who have done the 'drink around the world'. They never said anything about cards though.
They also started at lunchtime and made the rounds slowly...small drinks in each country.
It can be done responsibly. But not quickly!!!

I saw someone recently post one. It listed each country and they wrote in what brand of beer they got. Maybe it was not from Disney, they may have created it themselves.

These are sold by someone else online - there is no official "drink around the world" card.

Agree. If you look at all the "Drink Around the World" cards, you can see they were not professionally made. I see several are print-at-home fan creations. As for the F&W passports, I don't think Disney expects anyone to eat and drink every item on that checklist in a single debaucherous binge. Instead, those passports are a fun way to collect stamps and memorialize which items you sampled during your visit.

I think that Florida law would still prevail against disorderly behavior on Disney property. I'm not sure exactly what the penalty would be, but in the worst cases it could surely lead to arrest.

It does often lead to arrest. Sometimes they do just give warnings but if a guest repeatedly does not listen to CMs or is loud at the resort even after warnings they call the Orange County police. On the bus they don't usually make those calls unless there is physical violence because everyone's vacation would be even more inconvenienced if they had to stop the bus and wait for police to come and take witness statements and everything. Although cursing is not family friendly the father involved in the shouting match would have gotten in just as much trouble had the cops been called as he was involved in the disturbance as well. At most since it was not physical they would have gotten warnings. The dad could have just left it alone and later told his children it was an example of adults misbehaving. Yes curse words around children stink but it is better than watching daddy get in a fight with a stranger.
