Exactly how hard is it to get into the PI?

Exactly how hard is it to get into the PI? and what are your chances of getting in without doing the CP? Thnks

It isn't easy. I applied for 5 and got rejected for 3, one of which I had 10 years experience and was part of my major. I have not done the CP, so I think that hurt me on those 3. I would not count on it being your one ticket into Disney. I have applied for the CP just in case.

According to an article I found, the acceptance rate is 30%, compared to the College Program which tends to accept more like 70-80%.


For the most competitive ones, including the MIs, it's almost mandatory as most of them require that you've done a CP before. (And they won't consider you if you haven't.)

Very few will take someone without CP experience and those tend to be on the technical end: Engineers, Biologists, Veterinarians, etc.
