Exactly How Bad Is T-Rex?

We really like T-Rex! The food may not be exotic, but it's very good and well prepared. I had the mushroom ravioli last time, and DH had the jumbo shrimp skewers and both were fantastic! Drinks are pricey, but their lava flows rival what we had in Maui on our honeymoon!

I would much rather have gone back to T-Rex again than spend as much as I did at the Cape May Clam Bake - poor quality yet expensive food IMHO.

If you join the rainforest cafe safari club you also get the same discounts at t-rex. I think it is $15 to join, and you get a $10 voucher towards a meal. You also get a free app or 10% off entrees, and the card also get you priority seating. Here is the link on the mousesavers page: http://www.mousesavers.com/dlmeals.html#rainforest

.

Darn. I wish we lived near a Rainforest Cafe. We're planning to eat at T Rex in November. The Mousesavers link says I'll be mailed a voucher after I sign up, but I can only sign up when I'm at WDW. I won't get the voucher until after I get home from WDW, right?

Does anyone know a way to sign up for the Rainforest Cafe Safari Club without having to do so in person?

Just wondering.

We're really looking forward to TRex.

We went last March and thought the atmosphere was unique but rather loud. I think it's a fun place to go at least once. I agree that the food is pricey, but good. We enjoyed it overall and what associated with Disney isn't expensive?

We are not picky people but we thought the apps and drinks ok, main dishes horrible and weird tasting. Atmosphere is outstanding. I'd never go back for the food. Only drinks, apps and dessert maybe.

We love T Rex!The food I have always had there has been good..usually a pasta dish. We also don't find it hugey over priced. It's comparable Rainforest or even Chili's, however mymeals have been better at T-Rex.

First, T-Rex and Rainforest are run by the same people. If you enjoy Rainforest, you'll more than likely like T-Rex.

I've been to the T-Rex in Kansas a few times (if I'm not mistaken, this was the original T-Rex...even before the Disney location...but I could be wrong) and it's been pretty good every time. I always get the Paleo Shrimp and have enjoyed it each time, but it's on the more expensive side (15-17?). My mom has gotten the added rack of ribs to something before and she could barely eat it because of how dry it was. I guess it's a hit and miss sometimes. The atmosphere is fun, and if it's like the Kansas location, they have a dinosaur version of Build-A-Bear inside too :D

Wow- you all have convinced me to give it a try- if nothing else, I'm quite sure DD5 will love it for the atmosphere. Wasn't expecting this many positive reviews!

We enjoyed it so much we are going again this year and we are all adults - no kids! I mean it certainly isn't quiet, by any means, but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't talk to each other, and it wasn't chaotic at all. Our server was wonderful and our food was perfect!

I'm pretty much echoing what others have said, but we really enjoyed it. My Mother was with us and she even took a picture of her food (with no intention of posting it on the DIS which cracked me up at the time!:rotfl2: ). She is not the type to do this, so it must have really been impressive! Actually, the presentation of the food was pretty great, and the taste was good, too. Much better than Rainforest IMHO.

We will be going back this next trip. Atmosphere is what it's all about!

I'd love to know what's in that dessert that one of the previous posters showed. Looks really cool!

Have a GREAT time... you'll love the Ice Age room! :thumbsup2

Definitely an experience. Can't remember what I ate, but it was fun. DD were 5 and 15 months and both loved it. Oldest still has her stuffy from Build-a-Dino on her bed almost a year later. Still planning on going back in August if that means anything.

My boyfriend and I are in our mid-20's and we love T-Rex! It's one of our must-do's! It's worth it to go for the theme and atmosphere alone!

And I definitely can't wait to get another one of those cotton candy martinis!!! Yum!

We all really liked TRex when we went last year, and we weren't expecting much! We aren't that picky and don't require "fancy" food. To us the food was similar to other casual dining places, like Applebees, Ruby Tuesday, TGI Fridays, sports bars, etc. DH got a chicken sandwich that's served on pizza dough and he LOVED it. The kids loved their kids meals, and I got quesadillas that were very good. We're planning on visiting TRex again this year :)

You can sign up at RFC at DTD and they give you a temp. card. You can use the card immediately for the 10% for 4 people or free app.up to $8.99 and merchadise discount. The safari club will get you priority seating at RFC, but not T-Rex. The card never expires as long as you use it one a year. I had mine for 6 years, and never had a problem using my card. If you are just looking to save on trip, you can always check Mousesavers for RFC coupons, which I hear will be accepted at T-Rex.The wild bunch zone at RFC.com has reward calenders that you can print that also have the .99 kids meal coupon on them.

TRex was so different, it was more like a show as you ate - just very noisy! We had ordered sandwiches ad they were large enough for 4 people - we could have ordered just 1! We took the rest home!:surfweb:

We went to T-Rex after our Disney cruise one time with our 3 boys, and we had a great time. The food was good, and the portions were HUGE! We did not need to order a meal for everyone (but we didn't know that at the time and did!) We ended up with way too much food and left it.... Have fun! :thumbsup2

we ate at t-rex in october. my 5 yr old daughter loved it... right down to the fossils in the bathroom. the food was pretty good, and probably was a little overpriced, but what isn't at disney? it's about the same pricing as rainforest cafe if you've been there. we even made our own dino at the build-a-dino shop that's connected to it. have a great time!

I'm literally shocked at all the positive reviews. It's great, and definitely reassuring that if anything, we'll enjoy the atmosphere. I love all the feedback! This is why I love this forum!!

We have eaten here twice and are planning to go again in September. DS (3) loves dinosaurs! Yes, it's loud. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, the kids will expect to visit the build a dino thing. It's worth it. The food is on par with TGI Friday's with really big portions. My husband ordered the double cheeseburger and barely finished it. What you are paying for here is the atmosphere. It is a good time. We liked sitting near the animatronic dinos, but we really preferred the ice cave. Your little guy will love it. Mine does.:goodvibes

If it was my picture...it was the Chocolate Extinction (I think that's what it was called). It's very similar to the Volcano at RFC. The dry ice really fascinated my ds6!

I also wanted to share that we were really worried about eating here. Just days before (last Thursday) we ate at RFC at AK. We've eaten at various RFC before..at least twice a year. Well, ds6 totally freaked out! He was terrified of the monkeys! I was really worried about taking him to the T-Rex after this experience. He loves dinosaurs, but he became so hysterical at RFC that I wasn't sure we would be able to eat there. The talked with the manager at RFC (Robin..who was wonderful helping us find a better table for ds), and she told me that the T Rex was kind of scary. We decided to try it, although I expected us to end up eating at McD's:rolleyes1.

I was so thrilled that ds wasn't scared at all! He loved every moment. It's loud, but the atmosphere is so neat and enjoyable. I'm so glad we gave it a try. It will become one of our regular dining experiences when we hit Disney. Now I have to find out where more are located!

We have reservations booked for our upcoming trip. DD loves Dinosaurs. I looked at the menu and the prices are high, but I hear the portions are huge so Dh and I will probably share.
