We will be there May 5-15th and will participate in the regular dining plan. We have done this before but I know the price has gone up. We are staying on DVC points so won't be doing a package. I am having a hard time finding out the exact cost of the DP per person, per night. It is nowhere to be found on Disney's web site Anyone know? Is it $44.99??? :confused3

I was going to give you the link to a great sticky here about the dining plan. It explained *everything* and had the current prices.

But oddly enough... I can't find it now. And I access it semi-frequently...

I spoke with Disney few weeks ago and the CM told me it had gone up to 51.99 per person for adults. Assuming he was correct.

This info is from the DDP sticky: (The title is 2010 DDP but 2011 info is at the bottom of post #1)

2011 DINING PLAN PRICES:
The prices are (for adults age 10 and over, children age 3-9):

Quick service plan: $34.99/night/adult, $11.99/night/child

Regular dining plan, non-peak: $45.99/night/adult, $11.99/night/child
Regular dining plan, peak: $47.99/night/adult, $12.99/night/child

Deluxe dining plan: $78.99/night/adult, $21.99/night/child

Premium package: $169/night/adult, $119/night/child
Platinum package: $229/night/adult, $160/night/child

Wine and dine add-on: $39.99/night

What is up with all these CMs saying the prices are higher than what was originally released for the year?

Thanks for the replies. It has gone up a lot over the last few years. It used to be a good value...now I'm not so sure. When the dining plan first came out it included appetizers and gratuity. Now it doesn't and it is much more expensive. :sad2:

I don't think the CMs are giving out wrong prices.

After I found out I paid 39.99 for adults and 16.99 for kids for the qsdp I called Disney and took it off my package and am going oop.

The 2nd CM who was very nice challenged me to hold onto my reciepts to see what worked best, and I plan on doing just that.

I am going oop now and will see if we spend 40 pp on CS food every day and what we get.

I'm not saying they are wrong, but they are different then what Disney originally released. Plus they are only different for a small portion of the people.

I didn't think you were saying that about the CMs in that way.

Probably just over -frustrated that I was one of the few who was charged more.

When I talked to the first CM he told me the higher prices were the 2011 prices, and that they could not verify what was posted on websites not affiliated with Disney.

I suspect Disney may have released those prices and charged them to people who paid in 2010 for 2011 packages and now in 2011 you pay the higher prices (I booked my package in February).

It would be nice if Disney would actually list the prices for the meal plans on their website themselves, since you buy everything in a package most people probably have no idea.

If not maybe they should keep DIS and other sites updated on pricing changes for obsessed planners like me = )

Well, there is a relatively easy way to solve this...
Test #1: ASMu Pref Room - 1 Ad. 1night (9/22-9/23) - 2 day PH + WPF tix = 401.70
#1 + QSDP = 436.69. Difference = $34.99
#1 + DDP = 447.69. Difference = $45.99
#1 + DxDDP = 480.69. Difference = $78.99

Test #2: #1 + 1 Child (6) = 443.32
#2 + QSDP = 490.30 Difference = 46.98 - 34.99 = 11.99
#2 + DDP = 501.30. Difference = 57.98 - 45.99 = 11.99
#2 + DxDDP = 544.30. Difference = 100.98 - 78.99 = 21.99

Those are using Disney's prices off of their website just right now. For peak times, run the same types of tests (the resort and ticket options don't matter, since they're the same in all test runs). This is pretty much how sites like the DIS and others actually find out the price of the dining plans once packages are released. (Plus, I'm sure TAs get information on nightly pricing for their clients).

For those claiming overcharges, could the CM have upgraded your room level at the same time? I know they have a tendency to do that if rebooking under a discount code that there's no rooms left at your rate. It would certainly explain the discrepancy. They did that with me last year when I rebooked with the 30% off moderates, went from standard room at CSR to King without telling me. (I didn't mind since I was solo and it was still cheaper than no discount standard, but it's just an example).

I'd suggest calling again and getting a detailed list of what you currently have booked, and comparing that to what you originally booked. They should be able to break down the costs for you as well and if the CM on the phone can't, it's supervisor time.

ETA: Just saw that aliceinwdr whom I quoted already removed the dining plans from her reservation. This can be taken generally though instead of just for her specifically :). It should also be taken as a sign that I should read the whole thread carefully before replying :p.
