Thank you very much, ladies - you are too kind, as always! Not to worry - I don't think that I could be "too thin" if I TRIED (hee hee!)! Really, I'm not trying too hard to lose weight. I'm just exercising in the mornings before work and trying not to eat so much bread, cheese, or pasta, that's all. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I am eating better and on a more regular schedule than before Frank moved in with me. Before Frank moved in, I would sometimes forget to eat dinner till like 10:00 PM, and then have a heavy meal. I was eating at very irregular times and not always the greatest food. Now that Frank is with me, we eat and relatively normal times, and now that I'm "really cooking" (as opposed to defrosting and microwaving!), I can cook things that are better for me. So I really haven't put a tremendous amount of effort into it, and I am definitely NOT starving myself (I have done that in the past, too, SG - UGH. I will never do that again. In fact, one of the billions of magnets on my refridgerator says "I refuse to ever starve myself again"!). But I do feel better - I was (and probably still am) definitely at an unhealthy weight for my height (5'2"), and I don't want to risk getting Type II Diabetes, like my mother has. Plus, I smoke cigarettes, so being overweight, almost 35 (in 12 days!), and a smoker is a pretty dangerous combination! Anyway, I'm feeling good and that's the important thing. If I look OK, that's good too! Thanks!
Congratulations on your sister's engagement, Helenabear! That is great news!
I also remember those archaic video games - I had Coleco Vision (sort of like Pong, but even older than that!) and I remember thinking that it was the coolest thing in the world. It's amazing to think how far technology has come since the mid 70's - who would ever think that we could have games with the sorts of advanced graphics available today??? Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of patience for playing those games.....mostly because I'm not very good at them and always lose (hee hee!)! Frank's sister, on the other hand, is a master of all sorts of video / computer games and can sit for (literally) hours mesmerized by them! I wish that I had the talent for them, but I stink at them! That Game Cube sounds really neat, though! And it is very smart of you to rent the games and try them out before making a "permanent investment" in them!
That Disney Monopoly Game is another story, SG - I have seen it advertised and it looks really neat! There is also a CD-ROM Disney trivia game which I've seen advertised, and I've thought about getting it. I am also a trivia buff. I participate on the Disney parks trivia thread on the Theme Parks Board, "play" Disney parks trivia with my Fantasmic friend via e-mail, and used to e-mail 70's and 80's music / pop culture trivia questions to my friends at work every morning and ran a "contest" for them! I have a good memory for lots of trivial facts, I guess (hee hee!)!
As for TV shows, I used to be addicted to "Ally McBeal", as well (do you know that Calista Flockhart and I graduated from Rutgers in the same year??

), but I haven't liked it as much over the past few seasons as in the beginning. I really enjoyed the first few seasons - the storylines seemed more "realistic" than in more recent years. I liked the way that they showed Ally's "struggle" with being single, while all of her friends (and ex-boyfriend) were getting married or having babies, because the show started right around the time that I got divorced, and some of the story lines made me feel better about my feelings and what was happening in my life. I could really relate to the whole "dancing baby" thing. But more recently, I think that they've taken it a bit too far. I still watch occasionally, though. And I'll definitely watch when Mariah Carey and John Bon Jovi (native New Jerseyan!) guest star! Aside from that, I enjoy watching "Friends", "Frasier", and "Will and Grace", as well as my "teeny bopper shows" - "Dawson's Creek" and "Felicity" (believe it or not, I really miss "Beverly Hills 90210"!) I also watch "All My Children" every night, needless to say, as I videotape it every day (Frank watches too - he's "hooked" also!)! And I love watching the NY Mets games during baseball season! Can't wait for the Olympics next month - I love to watch the figure skating! I like Monty Python films, also, but I haven't seen them enough to be able to quote dialog from them, like Frank and his sister do! Or like I can with Mel Brooks movies! I enjoy watching some British TV comedies, too - "Absolutely Fabulous", "Are You Being Served", "Keeping Up Appearances", etc. My father and uncle are really into the British comedies, and my father's all time favorite show is actually a British nighttime "soap opera" called "Eastenders". In a way, I'm glad that the PBS station on my cable system doesn't carry that show, or else I would get hooked on another "soap"! My dad also really loves the British mystery TV shows, like "Inspector Morse" and "Prime Suspect".
That's so nice of you to make a copy of the photo of your grandchildren for their other grandmother, SG! You are a very kind and thoughtful grandmother! And that's so neat that she has a new boyfriend in her life, too! I am sorry to hear about your DIL's possibly pulling the 5 year old out of preschool - that is very sad. I hope that it doesn't come to that. What could be accomplished by her doing that? UGH.
And I'm sorry to hear that you may not be able to make it out to NYC!

Maybe you'll all still be able to come out, even if not at the time that you originally planned! I hope so!

Regardless, I'm sure that you will all have a wonderful time together, wherever you choose to meet or visit!
Speaking of Broadway, my best friend from college is going to take us to see Elton John and Tim Rice's "Aida" - the third play in the "Disney on Broadway Trilogy" - in a few weeks. Originally, she was going to take us to see "Mamma Mia", the new Abba musical, as a belated engagement gift, but it's sold out through May! So, we're going to see "Aida", which is fine with me because I wanted to see that show, too!
Anyway, hope that all is well with you both and with all of you out there, Jstmee, Angelina, Webmaster CC, Bashful, and everyone else! Have a great day!
