I've been putting off buying my airfare for my trip at the end of march because I've been having some weird breast pain. I couldn't get a mammogram appt for months. Well yesterday was my mammogram and sonogram and it was all normal party: :jumping1: :cheer2: I've been soo worried that it was always on my mind. I wanted to make sure everything was alright before I booked the air fare and made ADRs. But now I'm sooo psyched I"M GOING TO DISNEYLAND FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH MY FAMILY!!!!!!! Just a reminder to everyone if you haven't made a mammogram appt yet DO IT TODAY!!!! WAHOO!!!!!:dance3:

Try switching bras. Some of my bras have the underwire in the wrong place and I wind up with mystery pains.

TwingleMum.... Great news!

Happy planning!! I am sure you are so relieved. I agree with Honeymom. Same issues here.

So glad to hear everything is alright!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August, had a mastectomy, just finished chemo 2 weeks ago (YAHOO!!), and will be starting my radiation treatments in about 2 weeks.

I had a normal mammogram in January then ended up with a lump in my breast 7 months later. In addition to getting yearly mammograms ALWAYS have a surgeon or doctor check out any lumps/pains you find in between mammograms. Cancer can grow fast especially in younger women (I'm 41).

Twinglemum, if you continue to have pains or feel anything suspicious go to another doctor or a surgeon for a 2nd opinion.

Best wishes to you!:)
Alison

Good for you for following up on it!!!

As women, we take care of everybody in the family except ourselves. We can't take care of ANYONE if we don't take care of ourselves! Congrats on the clean slate, but if the pain continues...follow-up with another opinion.

Off to take my own advice...:sad2:

CONGRATS on the all clear!!

Sameyeyam, congrats to you too! I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov 2002 at the age of 32. You are almost done now, radiation is exhausting, but in less than 2 months you'll be all done! Do you have a Disney trip planned to celebrate? We'll be celebrating my 5 year anniversary at Disneyland in November. Its fitting because we had to cancel a trip when I was diagnosed, so now walking in the gate at DL always reminds me of how lucky I am to be there with my family and that I am HEALTHY!

Amy - yes I have a Disneyland trip that is in the planning stages. I normally take the kids to Disneyworld for spring break every year (my sister lives in Florida). But my radiation treatments won't be done in time this year so we had to cancel that trip. So we told the kids we would take them to Disneyland when school gets out (they've never been to Disneyland). That's how I ended up here on the DL threads!

It's always great to talk to other survivors because it just gives me so much hope for the future. Congrats on your 5 year anniversary! I know that there will be a new "normal" life after all this treatment and I am so looking forward to it! Not a day goes by that I'm don't feel so thankful to be alive & planning this Disneyland trip is really one of my first steps in getting back to normal. Somehow I'm guessing I will take more time to smell the roses this year and not be so much of a Disney Commando!

Take care,
Alison aka Sam I Am!

Alison and Amy ~ Congrats to you and Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Patti~ Your sooo right, as Moms everyone comes before we do its just how we are. I'm trying to correct that and take better care of myself.

Channing and Honeymom~ the Breast Fairy definately gave me extras, so I'm sure I should be wearing a bra all the time even to bed but I don't. And along the same lines as Moms always putting everyone else first my bras are all probably at least 3 yrs old. Always buying kids new nice clothes and neglecting me.

But I can't wait for DL its a dream come true!!

Thanks for all the good wishes.:cloud9:

Alison, I'm so glad you are almost done with your treatment. You should be proud of what you've gone through and enjoy every moment. Enjoy Disney and in 5 years, we should meet at Disney, you celebrating 5 years and me 10!

It's a date!! I also hang out on the DIS breast cancer survivors thread and have met some wonderful women over there. WDW usually hosts the Race For the Cure every October at Animal Kingdom and several of us are planning on going and meeting each other. But we're not sure if they're going to hold it this year. Believe it or not they might have outgrown Animal Kingdom! So we are still waiting to hear if/when they are going to have it this year. I figure if I'm going to pound the pavement for a cure, might as well have fun at Disney too!:)
