Everything Virtual Queue - Please Read Post 1

For the 5pm drop for Extended hours. Do I have to be in EPCOT? We are hoping over from MK after fireworks.
Just clarifying, the drop is at 6:00. I’m not sure if you need to have tapped in. You do for 1:00 but I’m not sure about 6:00.

Hopefully someone else can help with that.

A friend was just at Epcot a few days ago and was looking to change park passes to Epcot yesterday. Yesterday it was not a sold out day (but MK and HS were crazy and the Genie+ price increased to $25 today, was $20 yesterday?) GOTG VQ pm was gone quickly (checked around 2:15 pm). I did see it pop back up once briefly.

I did tell her that she could have boarded anytime after the boarding group is called.

I had terrible luck with the Guardians virtual queue today, blaming it the aforementioned Christmas crowds. I am confident in my virtual queue skills from previous trips using it for Guardians, ROTR, and Spider-Man at Disneyland. I tried at 7:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 6:00 PM the SECOND the clock rolled over and was told the queue was full. Quite disappointing as it was the only day this trip it worked to take my dad for his first ride on the attraction. I had read the 1:00 PM usually lasts a short while, even on busy days so was really shocked it was full at 1:00:01.

After 6:00 PM I very politely asked a guest experience cast member for pointers for a future day if there was something I was doing wrong, etc. She was very helpful and said sometimes Swan/Dolphin guests get shut out of the queue even if their reservation seems properly linked in MDE. She was able to get me a very end-of-the-night boarding group. I hadn’t asked her for one but was very grateful to be able to take my dad. Just another thing to look out for if you’re using MDE with a Swan reservation (FWIW I also experienced the common issue of Swan/Dolphin reservations being dropped from MDE a day before check-in and had to relink it).

I will be staying at dolphin first week of January so I have to ask you what issues you are talking about with regards to MDE/staying at Swan/virtual queue. I believe that with trying for the virtual queue, it doesn't matter if you stay onsite or not ( everyone is eligible at 7:00), so why would staying at the swan affect this (if that is what you are insinuating). I know linking these reservations can be wonky, but I don't think that should matter either way.

Now, did you try to pay for a $ILL? Because your Swan reservation would have to be properly linked to your MDE to be able to purchase at 7:00, versus park opening for offsite guests.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on this: my one Epcot morning is our check in day at the dolphin and want to make sure.

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but on my check in day, can I park my car at Dolphin around 7:15am and just walk to international gateway and be let in for early entrance without checking in/contacting the dolphin that morning? We were planning on walking back and grabbing our bags from the car late afternoon to check in.

Could it just be that wifi was slow? Also, the latest Phones are faster and we have had less issues (phone froze ROTR VQ, mobile ordering wouldn’t work at the milk stand) after we upgraded. I haven’t had issues booking things staying at Four Seasons at MK (booked around 7:30 am). I do know GOTG sells out in seconds during holidays, and now that Christmas crowds are here it’s even more challenging on EETPH day.

You are correct in all of the above. I had everything properly linked including every member of my party showing up on my reservation. I was also able to confirm my boarding group without any error prior to 7:00, 1:00, and 6:00 (which can be where most Swan/Dolphin guests experience challenges). All I was saying was that the cast member insinuated that they’ve experienced Swan/Dolphin guests with everything seemingly linked correctly still unable to join boarding groups the second they go live. Pretty anecdotal and it was probably actually just due to how busy it is this week. But the cast member was very kind and generous to let us join the late boarding group.

I’ve successfully purchased ILL and Genie Plus when staying at the Swan in the past. I just haven’t tried it on this trip.

I hope others who have stayed at Swan/Dolphin share their experiences. We don’t want to cause undue stress to those people if it was a rare situation and more so due to the busyness of the week.

Have you stayed at Swan/Dolphin in the past and tried for a VQ? What was your experience then.

I wasn’t on the Disney Wifi and have an iPhone 13. If that’s not enough for a guest who paid to get into the park to get on a ride once, it’s rather disappointing. It’s frustrating Disney has policies where our instinct is to blame ourselves.

I stayed at the Dolphin in August and successfully got a VQ and ILL for Guardians. That was two adults staying in one room. My trip this week is three adults in one room, all properly linked in MDE. The cast member said sometimes MDE and Marriott struggle to recognize the correct amount of guests. Again, I knew that in advance and had made the reservation correctly with three adults on Marriott's end.

Just wanted to share my experience as I know others who frequent the Swan/Dolphin are interested in the idiosyncrasies of staying there. And if you do experience problems, the guest experience cast members can be very helpful. It was the first time I’ve ever gone to them.

It’s not blame. I switched from an iPhone 6s to an iPhone13 pro (Yes I know it was a long time coming).

Did you try using time.com on another device? My cell phone time is almost a second behind and has cost me the 7am spot a few times. So I hit join at 6:59:59 on the time.com clock time.

Yes.

I truly don’t think it has anything to do with staying at the Swan, but wanted people who may be overly optimistic about the 1 PM drop (based on non Christmas week reports) that it is as in-demand this week as the morning.

Can anyone direct me to the Thrill-data page that has the info on when Virtual Queue Boarding groups run out? I've looked and can't seem to find the data. Thx

Thanks for the heads up! You might want to give the heads up on the Here Now thread too.
