Everything Old Is New Again! - A Dec 2010 Trip Report : THE FINAL ENTRY page 45

I'm loving the pirate pics! They look like the had a great time there!

From the moment Madison took the oath, she never smiled. She only grimaced like she was about to rip your still-beating heart out of your chest and sell it to the highest bidder. When asked why, she responded "Pirates don't smile" This girls knows how to stay true to her character.

Love her hand on her hip too!

Great pictures of the pirate shoppe stuff! Looks like the kids enjoyed it a lot!

I hope to have the updates coming a little faster now. One of the rules of the DIS Dad's club is that a Trip Report must be completed before your next trip. We decided a few days ago to add a surprise 4 days at Disney World in April. We're already flying to Houston to spend Easter with my Aunt & Uncle, and adding the flights to Orlando really wasn't too much more than just flying home. The kids know about Houston, but have no idea about WDW. I'm so excite - I finally get to surprise them with a trip!

Are you intentionally keeping these reports short so I can not point out your flaws? :confused3 :bored:

Sorry, thought I would liven the place up.

It will be a surprise if you don't blow it. I have to remind you on a daily basis that it is a secret. :ssst:

AWESOME photos. I love them; and I love the pixie dust too--how cool is that.

And :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for a surprise trip. :yay::yay::yay:
Thanks! We're pretty excited about the trip too. I know it's one of Disney's busiest weeks, but since we have the APs, we aren't going to feel rushed to do as much as we can. Even if we get on two attractions a day, we're still in Disney World, and that's a heck of a lot more fun that just about anywhere else I can think of.

Thanks. They really had fun with it. (Spoiler: there's more pirate stuff coming later!)

Love her hand on her hip too!
Yes, Mrs SassyPants really knows how to work a character, doesn't she?

::yes::

Don't worry - the never listen to a word I say anyway. I could look them in right in the eye and say "We're going to Disney World in April right after we leave Houston" They would respond with "Can I have a snack?"

Next time you plan a surprise, make sure you keep it a surprise for ALL of the kids.

They're plastic, so of course they don't hurt when you get stabbed with it. Getting whacked in the shins, however...
I was thinking more along the lines of the type of damage they could do with them to win somebody $10,000 on America's Funniest Home Videos.

We'll just add that to the list of things we never had.
However, one thing we got to have, that they never will?
:woohoo::woohoo:Metal Tipped Lawn Jarts!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:
Yeah and we had the whole moving freely about the car and not being strapped into a booster seat until we were old enough for our learner's permit thing going for us. I guess that's a plus.

Love the pics! Molly and I really enjoyed going through them this morning. She thinks Madison looks very cool!

I was all set to come with something dismissing this idea, but then I gave it a bit more thought. And if she wants to plan a surprise trip, I'll all for it. She knows when my birthday is. :rolleyes1

We threw a pretty big party for Madison's 1st birthday. It was sort of a birthay/adoption/baptisim party all rolled into one. Like all awesome parties, we had a pinata. I've seen enough episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos to know that dad needs to stand as far away from the person swinging that stick as he can. And who says you don't learn anything from watching TV?

Growing up, we had a '77 Pontiac Catalina (4 door, with the 400cu V8). We used go on road trips, and my brother and I would take turns laying up in the back window. Dad would hit the brakes quick, and we go flying all way to the floor of the back seat. Good Times.:)

Thanks! Madison really enjoys getting dressed up - even if it is as a bloodthirsty pirate!pirate:

Our 3 newly initiated pirates we ready and raring to go! The boarded their vessels (strollers), battened down the hatches (had mom and dad put the camera bag in the cargo sling) and set sail for adventure (told us to start pushing)!
Our spirits were running high and we had adventure on our minds - but nothing in our tummies. Our supplies were running low - the salted meat had given out near Tortuga. The sea biscuits were so stale it was impossible to differentiate them from the canon balls. We hadn't had fresh fruit or vegetables for months, and several of us were beginning to show signs of scurvy. We had only one option left - find somewhere with food and loot, pillage & plunder until our bellies were full! The plans were laid - but we would not settle for 2nd best. If we were going to eat, we were going to eat like kings. But where? What place could possibly have food fit for royalty?

The front was heavily guarded, so we tacked against the wind, planning a surprise sneak attack from the north. We approached slowly, docking our ships just to the right of the entrance.

With weapons drawn, we charged the check in podium, ready to take on their initial wave of defenses with our cunning, with our bravery, with our daring, and most of all, with our Advanced Dining Reservation!
We had a 12:05 ADR, which is the first seating of lunch. As such, there was only a few families in line when we were ushered into line to meet Cindy. Let me tell you, we were quite a site. Every other family had little girls that either just got done at the Bibbty Bobbity Boitique, were wearing their favorite dress up Princess gown, or was otherwise decked out from head to toe is pink lace. We looked like we just just crossed the Caribbean in hurricane season.

They were having quite the conversation about pirating.

Before we left on the trip, Kayden made it clear that he was going to kiss every Princess he saw. After we left Cinderella and headed toward the stairs to the dining room, he was 1 for 1. :thumbsup2

We emerged from the stairs into an almost empty dining room. The other times we've been here it was usually around 2:00pm and the place is packed. It was odd seeing so many empty tables. (That would obviously change as our meal wore on.)

Studying a treasure map, no doubt.
IMG_3289.JPG

I know there is a lot of debate concerning the value this restaurant provides. We've been there a few times, but by no means is this a dining experience that we have to go to every time we're at Disney World. While planning this trip with Kaylene and Kayden, they asked about character meals, and we discussed this. They knew about the cost (in our case 2 Dining Plan credits), but the excitement of eating in the castle was too much for them to pass up. And that's the way we feel about it too. Besides, where else do you get to drink your Diet Coke out of a goblet and be called "My Lord" all the time? Certainly not at my house (despite my best efforts)

Anyway, back to the meal. Appetizers are first - our server brought out plates of grapes, cheeses, meats, bread, etc. Evan thought his grape was a bit too big, so out comes the CRT sword! (Yay! Another sword! Thanks Disney!)
IMG_3294.JPG

As I mentioned, this was the first lunch seating, so aside from Cinderella downstairs, none of the other Princesses were out and about yet. Pretty soon, a voice fills the dining room, telling a 3 or 4 minute version of the story of Snow White. As he finishes, he announces her, and she appears from near the exit, walks around the outside of the room for a bit, stops to wave, then starts making her way around the tables, stopping for pictures and autographs at each table. I'm sure their path is well defined, but it seemed almost random to me. Especially when she was one or two tables away from us, then suddenly veered off in another direction. The kids were disappointed, but she did make her way over to us.
IMG_3298.JPG

The same scene was repeated every 5 minutes or so as the story of another Princess would be told and she would enter the dining room.

Ariel (I had the fish for lunch, but I didn't tell her. Just in case it would hurt her feelings.)

What's a pirate without a little plundering? This time of grandpa's dessert.
IMG_3314.JPG

That's...just...yeah. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Evan.
IMG_3315.JPG

We had finished dessert, but were still hanging around, waiting for Belle to make he way over to us. Sure enough, she took the same crazy course as the rest of them, getting tantalizingly close to our table, then caroming off course to some other table that did not have pirates at it. Perhaps we were too scary?

The food was good. I hope you didn't come here for a foodie review, because I don't recall what anyone had. I just know I had some kind of locally caught fish with a funny name. Over noodles. With a red sauce. If you're ever given the the opportunity, go ahead and order it. You won't be disappointed. And speaking of disappointing, let's get back to the Trip Report.

We left CRTs, and I stopped for a minute to indulge in one Immagineer's little optical illusion. When viewed by an adult, the Cinderella fountain is just Cindy feeding the birds in her servant's dress. When you squat down and view it from a Child's perspective, you see she is destined for royality
IMG_3332.JPG

We had just loaded up all the kids and all of our stuff and were made it about 13 feet when we noticed the Fairy Godmother and a short line to see her. So we unload the kids and the autograph books for a quick picture.

Coming Up Next: The pirates finally get a boat!

Barry, great pictures at Cinderella's Royal Table. In our over 20 visits, we have NEVER eaten there. When our boys were younger, they would not be caught dead eating in a castle with princesses. Now that they are 25 and 22, I have a feeling they'd be delighted to eat witih a princess:

So, did Kayden kiss all the princesses at lunch? Did he bat a 1000?

I love your trip reports. So, uh, how many kisses did Kayden leave with?

I never knew that about the Cinderella fountain - that's really cool.

Love it, Barry! Again, Molly is rivetted!

:sad2: I can't believe you just left us hanging... so what was it after CRT? 1 for 5? 5 for 5?:confused3

Besides, where else do you get to drink your Diet Coke out of a goblet and be called "My Lord" all the time? Certainly not at my house (despite my best efforts)
If you ever figure out a way to make that one work, you'd better share with the DIS Dad's Club!:rotfl2::lmao:

Evan thought his grape was a bit too big, so out comes the CRT sword! (Yay! Another sword! Thanks Disney!)
Looks like he's having a little trouble slicing that grape. Obviously, it isn't a sword that was made by Will Turner.

The same scene was repeated every 5 minutes or so as the story of another Princess would be told and she would enter the dining room.
I've never been to CRT... is this something that just happens when they start serving or do the princesses leave for breaks and get re-introduced so later arriving guests can hear their stories?

The pirates finally get a boat!
I hope it's the Black Pearl!

CRT looks like a lot of fun... I've never been there but would like to sometime. I'm pretty sure we won't be doing it on our next trip, but maybe a few years down the road when everyone will be able to enjoy it. I guess eating in the castle isn't that big of a deal to me yet because I've never experienced it.:confused3

I was all set to come with something dismissing this idea, but then I gave it a bit more thought. And if she wants to plan a surprise trip, I'll all for it. She knows when my birthday is. :rolleyes1

I believe I talked about a trip around your brithday and you shot the idea down.

Now that I think about it...I don't think I have EVER mentioned this before but...have you thought maybe it would be cheaper to move to Florida? I'm just saying there may be a few benifits to the idea. :confused3

And the biggest one would be you wouldn't get 24 inches of snow at one time. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wow. You really did leave everyone hanging.

At the end of the meal Kayden is 5 for 5 and is on :cloud9:

Besides, where else do you get to drink your Diet Coke out of a goblet and be called "My Lord" all the time? Certainly not at my house (despite my best efforts)

Keep trying dear. It may happen someday. :lmao:

You actually had two servings of the fish. You became upset when I asked for mine without fish that you were given mine.
