If Texas were still a nation, it would have the eighth-largest economy in the world based on the GNP statistics from the World Bank Atlas.

The 2000 Gross State Product of $725 billion, the Texas economy is more than 3x the size of the Russian economy and is larger than the GNP of Canada, Brazil, Korea and Argentina.
