I only add people I'm absolutely sure are ya know...kids. Not 50 year old guys in their mom's basement. Lol. The people I'm closest with on here.

Yep. If I've seen your picture on here and it's the same on facebook, I'm pretty sure it's you ;)

People who prowl on young kids/teenagers generally give off a weird vibe to me. I've seen them on the DIS too and what they talked about just creeped me out.

One time I don't know why but I saw this one guy's myspace from someone else's and it was creepy. He was an old man who was only friends with young girls. I got off of that profile really quickly.

I'm a pretty cautious person in general. I'm not really scared of people online though. They'd have to make an effort to find out where I live, who I am, etc. because my last name is common. I'm also an adult (legally, anyways ;) ) but if I was as young as some of you, I'd definitely be much more cautious about what I post.

My general rule for Myspace/Facebook is I have to know you in person. I've got 2 or 3 of you from here too. I honestly don't think some creeper would be so invested into take bunches of (fake) photos and put them on facebook/myspace to convince someone. You never know, but....

ETA - I have a story about someone trying to add me on Myspace. My cousin's boyfriend, from what I heard is a total loser. Not only that, he's abusive. I've never met then guy, but if I do I swear I will castrate him. I will NOT let her procreate with him - he is vile. Anyway, he tried to add me on Myspace. I added him to check out his page (it was private). His page just confirmed what I heard and I deleted him. Well I guess Mr. Volatile didn't like that and sent me a message asking what happened. In short, I wrote "I don't like you. And do I know you? Yeah, didn't think so".

Snarky.
:lmao:

That's how I think too.

Eek, missed this all, but this is a good thread to have in general.

I wont be adding DISers on my FB or Myspace, not because I don't like you all or anything, but because you really don't know who is who online, or who knows who, even those you trust might not be all they cracked up to be.

I have a few friends that I met online, that I've known since I was 12. We still haven't met yet, we will, but it was be in a very safe environment..

Just be careful who your talking to online, and never let your guard down for a second. These people are very clever. They don't have signs on their heads saying "I'm a 49 year old loser who talks to girls online". They have tricks that you wouldn't believe.

Safe Surfing guys ;)

This is generally my rule too, and was for a few years until recently, my friend had her identity stolen basically on facebook. This person took all her photos and stuff, and started pretending to be someone else but use their photos as "image proof" etc.

But this is the first case I have ever heard of this. So generally, I think its a good rule.

Good I'm not the only one! But I have alot of pics on FB, I mean ALOT and I really dont want people I dont know that well looking at them. Sorry, but that is how I feel about that. Plus it has my email, ect.

Exactly. Pictures of friends, your house, your town, any number of things could be on there.

Not to mention all the personal information I post on my page.

I definitely wouldn't want random strangers going through all my pictures and crap, that'd be creeeepy.

holy chevrolet, i actually had forgotten that people steal peoples identities online. It sounds so stupid to be forgetting these things, but you know it just escapes your mind.
