Is anyone else getting it?

I bought the collector's edition for DH for a Christmas present. I don't think he'll be able to wait the 6 weeks until Christmas to play it, though :p

To be honest, I haven't gotten around to doing too much reading about the game. I played EQ1 a bit.
I am pretty impressed with the screen shots. The graphics are incredible.

I'm picking my copy up today (once I break away from Halo 2 and GTA).

I won't be able to play unil after work though.

I never played EQ before, except for a day a few months ago. I got stuck somewhere and had no clue what I was doing. I figured I came in too late. So I thought I would try this one from the beginning.

I have been playing Star Wars Galaxies for the last year and some people I "met" on there will be playing EQ2.

Too many games coming out at once. Eeep! Must Get Life!

I just hope the gameplay doesn't require sitting at the computer for hours on end after a certain point. I got into my 50s in EQ and then just couldn't play much anymore because it required several hours to do anything.

I've got a couple hours each night after my daughter goes to bed to amuse myself, but the time necessary to continue playing EQ became excessive IMO.

Jyrberg, that's what is happening to me now with Star Wars Galaxies. Trying to become a Jedi, like everyone else, takes tons of hours of grinding. So no one is PvPing anymore. And everyone in my guild except for a few left the game within the last month.

My guild leader has been beta testing Matrix online, so I guess that's why we fell apart.

Lora, I know what you mean. Fortunately I've been too busy with petty things to truly obsess over Sims2 so far :p

I'm hoping EQ2 doesn't require the same amount of time investment to get ahead. It's so frustrating and alienated me as a casual gamer. I don't want to spend 12hrs camping something in a group in order to get something

LoraJ, I must've been one of the few who played SWG who never had any desire to be a jedi ;) Then again, I stopped playing a few months after launch. Just didn't seem to live up to its potential. I played an architect, not realizing that architects would have no one to sell anything to after the initial housing rush.

DH keeps checking the website and dancing around like a little kid. He can't play it until he builds his new computer though so he has been feverishly pricing all the parts. Oh well, at least I know he isn't cheating (except maybe with a wood elf).

I've got the beta version. I haven't had much time to play but seems interesting.

I was always looking for mining installations and could never find any. :)
I gave up on all that harvesting stuff though. Especially since all my lots are now used up for houses to store all my junk.

I thought that Jump to Lightspeed would bring back some more excitement to the game. But it hasn't. Now everyone is up in space doing missions or ou grinding their Jedi's.

I would quit but I paid for a year.

My pre order comes in Thursday. Got the pc ready to go, now I am just impatiently waiting on the game.

My boyfriend will also be playing, and we were wondering about how many characters you can have.

He read somewhere 4, but he thinks it is 1 per server. I think I remember someone telling me you can have 4 characters on one server.

I just hope our transition from the Star Wars world to this one is smooth.

That's a good question, Lora. I'll see if I can find out.

All I know is that I had better be the character that has the house dragons.

DH was in the Beta testing and he says you can have a total of 4 characters total, but they don't have to be on the same server (he thinks).

Payday is tomorrow and he will be picking up his 2 copies. He's trying to suck me into his EQ world but so far I have resisted. But the graphics look great.

I went looking for it today - Walmart, Staples, Bestbuy and CompUSA. No luck. When I got home I called EB, and they had it.
Figures, I drove right by EB.

great, i hope you guys are all happy now........

i tend to play FPS games and after getting Call Of Duty United Offensive a few a weeks ago, and doing the happy dance because Medal Of Honor Pacific Assault comes out this weekend.

i am now thinking of getting EQ2 just to play and see if its as fun as a FPS.

so much for me having any free time lol

Wow, only 4 characters? EQ1 allowed 8 I think (per server).

Only 4 characters is going to bite since DH and I are sharing an account for now.
Gary, I'm sorry  I'm going to be an evercrack widow without any hope of getting my bookshelves made, if it makes you feel any better.

Good thing I have Sims2 to keep me company :hyper:

Bear in mind that character limits often aren't the same in beta as they are in release. That said, I hope they limit characters A LOT more than in EQ. Transferring items between characters caused many problems in EQ, to the point where they just said the heck with it and let it go on freely.
