Everest ride disappointed

Wow, it is so much better than when we rode it in Feb. during the soft opening. We just got back and rode it on Fridfay, you can actually see the yeti coming right at you now.

We rode it the first weekend of AP/DVC previews.
The Yeti was fully-lit even back then, BUT...

If the Yeti is operating normally, the light-levels in his cavern are up full and bright (not strobes, but full constant "stage lighting"), like in Splash Mtn.

However, if the Yeti is experiencing "animatronic arthritis" (not moving correctly) they turn down/off the "stage lighting" and just pop a few strobes.
(Kind of like an electronic version of "if you BLINK" you might miss him.)
So, if you didn't (or don't now) see him in full-brightness, he is likely feeling a little "under-the-weather" during those trips.

EE is the best ride at Disney!! I think the Imagineers hit another home run with this one - the queue line, the ride itself...and the Yeti is very very scarey. I know it can't get me but EVERY time I get nervous when we zoom right at him. :teeth:

This is always the first ride on our AK day - and I've got to ride it multiple times. I most especially love the backwards "oh, my I'm gonna pass out" part!!!

I'm curious to see why everyone like BTM. I do enjoy it - mostly b/c DW loves it. But I feel that it's kinda bumpy and EE, Mission: Space, RnRC are much better (not to start start any trouble..haha...just looking for feedback on BTM :sunny: )

We liked Expedition Everest. I still like Rock N Rollercoaster better. I only get to ride EE once, it was a mad house but FP took me straight to the ride with no wait.

I liked it. I really liked how they put so much detail and work into the mountain and even the queue lines! Great Job Disney

We're definately doing EE, but we have little ones so DH and I will do the swap thing. I'm not too excited about going on by myself but I'm not going to miss it (even if I am a big scaredy cat)! :)

We loved it!!!

On our June trip we only went to AK 1 day but made sure we rode EE 6 times that day.

My son and I still love Rock n Roller Coaster better but EE is still really awesome.

It's tame. No ride at WDW is really nuts intense. RNR, I would only rate a 6.5 on the intensity scale. But it's still a good ride and gets the adrenaline up.

You want intense, go to Cedar Pointe or Kings Dominion

I rode it in Feb. and was really dissapointed.
We went in August and my DW rode it for the first time and didn't like it very much, but this time I thought it was much better.
I thought since they built a huge mountain more of the ride should have been in it.
I think the shadow of him ripping up the tracks should come before you see the tracks ripped up.
My DW thinks it takes too long when you come to the ripped up tracks, till you start going backwards.
Soaring is another one we don't get, its ok but thats about it.
The film has so many huge black spots, it is so distracting.
If the change the film it might help.

Maybe you would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't for all the hype surrounding it?

I'm a bit worried I'll feel the same about that and Soarin'!

This is the reason for letdown on most rides. Disney doesn't just promote a ride, they overkill it in Orlando. Any hotel you go to just completely wears you out with Everest before you even see it. Then when you ride it, your expectations are just unreal.

I LOVE Soarin but, in my opinion when it opened, if you based your attraction of the ride based on the advertising of it, you'd likely be disappointed.

We loved EE--brought AK up to #2 spot behind MK for us. Sorry you were disappointed--here's hoping there'll soon be a new Disney attraction that you love! :sunny:

Everyone can't like every ride.

But, I loved it. I rode it 13 times in 2 days back in Feb.

I loved the theming and imagination of it. I can't wait to go back in less than 30 days!!!

:)

I enjoyed EE, but was disappointed with Soarin', although it is Disney so that automatically makes it great! :goodvibes

I liked it a lot. I loved the extensive theming in the queue and wish I had more time to look at it but I had a short wait.

My DD7 and I LOVED it last week! We had 4 FP total but my DH and little DD did not ride so we did it 2x back-to-back. It was AWESOME! I loved the whole idea of it, you never knew where you were going next!
Sorry you were disappointed, that happened to my DD7 with TestTrack. She never got to ride it last year and this year it was down both times we were in Epcot. We made a special trip over there our last morning just to ride it. Afterward she said she thought it was kind of slow! I think it was just the anticipation building in her mind.
Well, as others have said, at least there is something for everyone!

sorry to hear that, but not every ride is for every person

I cant wait to try it!! 40 more days

I can't really decide how I feel about it. I hated the backwards part, it really made me dizzy and actually hurt my head. I felt sick for about half a day after it.

I'm really nervous about that part. I've ridden The Mummy ride at Universal and liked it. So, I guess I'll be ok on this one too?? :teeth:

I haven't been on it yet but Dh said he wasn't that thrilled with EE. Like Mom2minnie said he thought it was just a step above BTMR in terms of scary. And Dh is a coaster freak (he grew up near Cedar Point) so his idea of a good coaster is different than mine LOL!

I'm hoping to ride it this trip even though I'm a bit nervous...I'm a big scaredy-cat when it comes to coasters
