Went to WDW on Jan 14-21.. Stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and they upgraded us to Savannah View.. What a Beautiful Site :cool1:
When visited the Animal Kingdom Park the cast members where able to ride the Expedition Everest. All the cast members stated the ride was not so scary as they would have liked. One stated it seemed almost like Thunder Mt.ride to him. :confused3

I'd pretty much agree, somewhat similar to Thunder Mt., of course it does go backwards like the Norway attraction. I really liked the view from the peak, and the animated "snowman" tearing up the track. NOT scary!

I did notice that the attention to detail in the que area was what you would expect from Disney. The Yeti figure was cool although very quick. Apparently, this was one attraction that escaped the budget cuts while being built.

I totally disagree. I think the ride is the best on Disney property. The Yeti was unbelievable and the actual ride, well, I was a bit dizzy after riding it the third time when I got off and I am fine after riding RNR over and over again. It is much faster (and smoother) than Thunder Mountain. The fog too was great and added to the trueness of the ride. It was fantastic!!!!!

Most of the CMs I work with agree that it is the best on property. The friends we took on with us were wowed too!!

It appears the drop is bad considering how you climb. But it is not bad.
I can see the comparison between BTMRR. It has turns like that. But BTMRR it is not. Smooth, fast, and obviously a lot of thought behind it.
This will be a hot ride from here on. Disney did right. This will put more guests back into AK.
:thumbsup2

are there too drops? when i look at the pics it appears to look like there is 2 drops! a strait one and then a curvy one.

We rode it twice on Friday and all I can say is WOW! Of the five of us that rode my wife was the only one with problems, seems the backwards portion was just too intense. My oldest daughter thought that it was real good (no Indy though), her boyfriend thought it was good but that it seemed to be 'missing something'. My youngest daughter and I LOVED it.

The detail of the area is spectacular and the Yeti is magnificent although it maybe would be better to see a bit more of him.

What Luv2Roam said... Yeh, Disney did this one right without pulling the budget midstream. This will put more people into AK!

I really liked it - but my first impression after getting off the first time was - "it wasn't as scary as I anticipated".

Had the good fortune to ride seven times this weekend. A very solid attraction with surprises all along the way. I applaud WDI's effort on this one - it really paid off.

Yeti is magnificent although it maybe would be better to see a bit more of him.

Completely agree. After seven times past him, I still really didn't get a great look at him. Luckily, there is a really high quality ride-through video out there that includes a slo-mo past the Yeti where you can see just what he looks like.

What would have been absolutely fantastic, although the pace and timing of the whole attraction would have to be rethought i.e. the climax, would be to have the animatronic Yeti jump in during the "stopped" part of the attraction.

I think it was kind of like BTMRR and the Norway ride combined ....but on a larger scale. Its definitely faster and smoother than BTMRR with longer stretches of track throughout. The novelty of the backwards portion of the ride is just like Norway. And the big drop and re-entry to the mountain is great. That said, I didn't find it scary or all that extreme in any way....which I personally love. There are enough scary real things in regular life for me to seek being scared for pretend. But I'll admit that's an attitude I acquired when I became a mom.

Big thrill seekers won't be thrilled by this one...but I think everyone will think its a good ride at least.

And I'll agree....more yeti, please!

I rode it in the middle of last month (2x) and feel that it is definately the best ride at WDW.

The question of "scareyness" is relative. What is scarey to one person might put the next guy to sleep. :)

If you can handle the coaster, ride it. :thumbsup2 If you can't, walk the que line with your friends & then wait for them while they ride it. The detail in the que line is amazing.

Ride at the Norway pavilion of Epcot, officially called the "Maelstrom" it's a boat ride through some brief history of the vikings, you see a 3 headed troll, go backwords a good bit, see a polar bear, then there's a drop at the end.

I rode it 3 times on the 26th. Lots of fun. For now I'll rate it slightly above BTMRR. Just what that park needed. Now you have the Lion King show and the safari on one side of the park, with Dinosaur and EE on the otherside. Great job by Disney on this one.

I just got back from WDW. I was able to catch a soft opening when we went to AK and I LOVED EE!!!! DH and I went twice and really wanted to go again. I'm not one for coasters that go upside down so this was excellent. As for comparing it to Thunder Mountain.....TM was nothing good but, it was "just" a coaster...EE is an Experience...IMHO it is the BEST coaster I have been on. Just enough to get the heart racing but not enough to scare the pee out of anyone of make you sick.

I noticed this is not scheduled to officially open until April. We will be there March 18-25. Do you think we will get a chance to ride it any of those days? :confused3

I dont know if this helps any but radio and TV ads have already begun in Florida...
