Everest Challenge Kid's Run

I was wondering if anyone's kids have done this kids run. My daughter (9) will be doing it (since she is missing her first 5K because we are surprising her with a disney trip) and I am trying to decide if my son (4) would be ok doing it. But its hard to get any information about it.

We actually thought about signing DD up for the actual challenge with my DH. But we were concerned with having to keep a certain pace and I don't want her to worry about trying to keep up, I just want her to have fun. And I talked to some people who said that you are expected to keep a certain pace.. And we are afraid that a 5K race at the end of the day may be a bit tiring for a 9 year old. (she turns 9 a few days before)

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
