:goodvibes Do you ever wonder how they decide which characters will be out to sign autographs and visit with the crowds? I know that there are some places, like ariels grotto and the judges tent that have mainly the same characters day to day. But I'm wondering about the characters that periodically come out on main street and other places around the parks.

When I was watching Regis and Kelly when they were taping at WDW, at the end of one of their shows, ALL of these different characters came out to dance (some that I could not even recognize) I wonder if some of the more "different" characters would come out to meet and greet? My kids favorite things to do is get those autographs :goodvibes

R&K is an ABC show. Characters don't usually come out and dance with guests on Main Street, even during the parades. Characters are usually found at attractions related to their movie, or else they are promoting the newest movie. Except for Chip & Dale, Pluto, Mickey & Minnie, etc. They are all over.

That's a great question; I wish I knew the answer. But, I do know that WDWAutographs.com is a great place to see where each character (including rare ones) can be found. Also, AngieBelle might be able to answer your question. ::MickeyMo

1) I always thought they come out when they feel like it.
2) When they wake up, depends upon which side of the rack get rise.
3) After all, who wants a Grumpy Tweedle-Dee?

4) Seriously, check with Guest Services at the park(s).
5) Ask them to check the daily listing.

Every 6 months or so, they decide what characters they are going to schedule in which areas. Sometimes they experiment with new places or they'll bring a rare one out of the woodworks. They decide what works and what doesn't. Although Town Square may seem random, if you were to visit every day, you'd notice it's generally the same group of characters that appear.

Of course, things don't always go as planned which is why entertainment is always subject to change. Performers call sick or are pulled to other locations. Sometimes, they have spares and no use for them so they'll allow them to choose a character and send them somewhere. In cases like this you might see something as odd as Snow White or Goofy at 1900 Park Fare or Stitch at Chef Mickey's. (Yes, all of these cases have happened.)

You'll have the best luck with rare characters at the Halloween and Christmas parties. Last year, they even had Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar!
