I read on another post about taking a cab to this beach. I thought that might be fun. They take you to Wyndam Palace and you can use their pool? Can anyone confirm this?

If you did this, did you pack a lunch from the ship and how long did you stay? How much is the cab for a family of five? My DH wants to know about this beach, do the locals hound you (selling stuff, braiding hair etc)?

Thanks.

I have been twice 10/03, and 9/04. It cost $20 taxi fare each way. sometimes they try to charge $5 a head, you should probably be able to talk them down to $20.

We went both times to the Wyndam. When you arrive at the hotel, just walk right through the lobby to the back of the hotel and out the door to the beach and pools. This year was not as nice, as the pools and little sea inlet were closed because of hurricane damage. I'm sure it would be fixed by now.

We did play on the beach for a few hours this year. Bought towels from the ship, our own sand toys, some bottled H2O, sunscreen and snacks.

No locals hounding us. Stayed about 1.5 hours. It is nice to have a second, very cheap beach day.

Have fun!

I've taken the local bus several times for $1. It's Bus 10 which parks beside Hagen Daaz. It's really convenient.

I love Cable Beach! We paid 5.00 a head to get there. The pool is great. It has a swim up bar and waterslide. There are motorized watersports available and banana boats. There are a few overpriced restaurants so packing sandwiches from the ship is a great idea. There is a casino (nicer than Atlantis's casino) and it is NOT CROWDED. Best of all... it's free. We went twice and on our latest trip the pool was closed due to hurricane damage, however, they let you use the pool at the hotel next door. Have a great time!
Next time we'll take the bus!

ok thanks everyone. So you are all in agreement that we can use their pool with no problem?

Princess Snow, can you tell me more about this bus? Do they make several stops and how far away is this resort anyway from the dock? Do they run constantly all day and once we want to go back to the dock, will there be ample buses to get back there?

Pooh friend...it is located in Nassau.

thanks, do they make several stops? How long does it take to get to this beach?

If they don't come back to the hotel when you are ready to leave, you can always grab a cab. It's better to pay the fee one way than both! At least you know you'll make it back!

How long of a ride is it to this beach? Is it a scheduled stop to this resort or do you tell the driver where you want to go?

If I remember correctly, the bus ride takes about 20 minutes. Cable Beach is a scheduled stop, but it never hurts to ask the driver, so you know when to get off the bus. There are several stops beforehand. I've never had a problem catching the return bus. I believe the return bus stop is in front of the "Johnny Canoe Cafe."

Thanks princess snow. This sounds too good to be true!:D Why doesn't everyone do this, its such a cheap excursion?? I'm lovin it. Thanks for that great tip about the bus.

What did you do about lunch? Would it be a real pain to pack a lunch from the ship? This is our first cruise.

Does anyone have any pictures of this beach?

I ate lunch at Sbarros and the Johnny Canoe Cafe--neither are anything great. If possible, I would pack something from room service, so you can eat lunch on the beach whenever you get hungry.
Cable Beach is great...not as nice as Castaway Cay, but one of the best excursions for Nassau. I do have pictures; I'm not sure how to post them here. I'll try to find out!

ok, great! I hope you can post them.

Here was a great day this past July at Cable Beach.

Wow!!! What a beautiful picture of you and the beach!!! Thanks so much for posting that. :D

I'm so happy I found this thread! It is exactly what we want to do on out upcoming cruise. DS is not potty trained yet and I would rather him spend the day at the beach rather than in a splash area on board ship!!
My question is about beach towles and chairs. Can you take a pool towel from the ship to use at Cable Beach? Or can you get one at the Wyndham Crystal Palace? And what about chairs...are they available for rent on that beach? If so, does anyone know what they cost?

Thanks for your help!!

I'm still a little confused about access to their pool. Is this completely legal?? Do they check id's? I really don't want to do anything wrong here by using their pool. Do they welcome cruisers?

TRUST ME, BELIEVE ME, It's Legal, I SWEAR! I've been there 3 times (once on vacation, and twice while crusing with DCL). There are no wrist bands and cruise guests are welcome. I guess they figure you'll make a deposit in the casino or spend some money at their bars and restaurants. You have to bring towels from the shiip because they charge you for towels at the pool ($5.00 if you are not a hotel guest) but chairs are free. There are plenty of them along with tiki huts for shade. The Raddison next door is not free to cruise guests, but the Nassau Beach Hotel on the other side is. Have a great time. My kids did the banana boat rides and LOVED THEM. Independant companies just pull up on the beach at all different times with jetskis, snorkle trips, banana boats, etc. The beach is beautiful. Hopefully the Wyndham's pool is up and running again. It has a waterslide and a swim up bar. If it isn't, email me and I'll give you some tips.
