Has anyone had that work? Every once in a while one comes by here and I'm tempted to give it a try. Long ago I worked with a girl who did it and lost weight. I guess it's supposed to help you with cravings?? They also have one going to help quit smoking.

Any experience?

Hi Jill
I once went to a hypnotist for weight loss. I dont feel it helped me like they portrayed it would.

I did find the suggestions he made during the session (like where to eat, when to eat) helpful so maybe it did work a little, lol

This was a few years ago and I still look back and remember what he said-like not standing and eating-always sitting at the table in the dining room to eat (never the tv room, etc),never having the tv on when you eat.
Now that doesnt mean I listen to the "voices" all the time:teeth: -but the point is I still remember them.

As far as smoking goes-my dad did the hypnosis thing for stopping and that worked like a charm for him. He did have to listen to the tapes after the session etc but we are now 5 years later and he is still smokefree.

whatever you decide-good luck and maybe check out the wish board here for more support on your weight loss journey!

Several years ago my mother and I went to a hypnotist with the hope of losing weight. It was a group setting, the ballroom of a local hotel. After the lights went down, I don't remember anything except my mother waking me up when it was over. Seems I had fallen asleep and slumped over onto a rather large grandmotherly type woman seated next to me. They were both laughing and said I was snoring! Thank goodness I didn't drool on her! That is the truth. By the way, neither of us lost any weight. My dad tried it to quit smoking and didn't help him. Maybe my family is just "resistant".

no, but after seeing one I now cluck like a bird every time I hear the words "long post"

I USED to work for a company that did this and sold weight loss products. It was a hotel setting seminar. The 1st half was all about eating habits and what to eat and a BIG PUSH for the products that the company sold. 2nd half was the hypnosis. As an employee I got to go for free, as did my mom. No weight loss and I did try one of the products (which at the time had ephedra in it -- I see now they no longer do -- supposedly). Nada.

I've always thought that if that worked, there would be more "cured" people. As much as I wish it were true, my hunch is that it doesn't work.
