ever hear any funny comments from novices to the world?

three to get you started, waiting to board a bus, guest, we want to go to disney world, bus driver, you are there where do you want to go?, guest, to disney world you know, bus driver, i said you are there where in disney world do you want to go? guest, you know where the rides are. luckily it was a magic kingdom bus. another from a friend at work. yea we got a package and we can go to all the parks, magic kingdom, epcot, animal kingdom, mgm, universal and sea world. the bus will take us there. me, you cant go to universal and sea world on a disney bus. my friend, yes you can the travel agent told us the buses go to all the parks and our tickets are good at all of them. after a twenty minute conversation he called the travel agent and was very upset and said he had been misled, of course he wasnt he just thought they were all the same. heard this one on "bob and sherry" radio show,from bob, i really like mgm my favorite ride there is spiderman. anyone else heard anything like this?

Walking through Fantasyland, we heard a mom yell "Look, it's the elephant ride!" My family still laughs over that one.

Another time, we heard a dad telling his kids "Look it's one of the Seven Dwarfs, let's go have our picture with him"..... It was Mr. Smee!

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are lots more!

That might have been me, saying about the "Elephant Ride. That's because that's what my four year old calls it, and when I call it Dumbo, she corrects me and puts me in my place!!

I heard a mom tell her 10 or 11 year old son that he didn't want to go on Test Track and that the Indy Speedway was better because you got to (in her words) "do it yourself". Fine with me if you prefer one over the other, but because you get to drive the car yourself? Hilarious.

Heard in my Disney Store while Dad was looking at a vintage Mickey plush...."That's Mortimer....before he was named Mickey!"

She was kind of close, Mickey was named Mortimer originally by Walt, but his wife Lily didn't like it and suggested Mickey instead. Still worth a bit of a rolleyes though as even Steamboat Mickey was Mickey by then, not Steamboat Mortimer lol!

I was on a Mears shuttle, chatting with a nice couple. The man asked me where to get the monorail to Universal. I know that most of these are newbie questions and comments, but they do make me chuckle. It's funny that things that are so obvious to the seasoned WDW guest are so unknown to novices.

I had a co-worker ask me if you could "WALK TO BUSCH GARDENS FROM DISNEY WORLD"


I wanted to tell her that yes, I suppose one could walk from Orlando to Tampa, but driving would be much faster.

After I explained that those 2 theme parks were not affilated w/each other and also are in different cities, she asked what was within walking distance at WDW. So I SHOWED HER A MAP of how large Disney's property is, that there are 4 parks and over 20 resorts onsite and that they have their own highway system and such.
Her next question....

"Can you walk from Disney World to Epcot"


I think a lot of newbies mistakenly call the MK "Disney World", but still. I didn't try to explain too much more to her and told her if she books a vacation that I'd love to help her out.

Besides the usual - MK being referred to as Disney, people thinking US/IOA are part of Disney, etc., one time my cousin and I were at the Dole Whip stand and a man was on the phone, apparentely (sp?) meeting someone within the Magic Kingdom when I heard him reply "Castle? What castle? The big one? No, we ain't seen no castle" I had to just laugh and walk away.

Another time we were on the bus to MGM and a couple behind us were talking and the man said if they didn't like MGM they would just take the monorail to Epcot. I turned around and told him that there was no monorail between MGM & Epcot and proceeded to explain to him how to get around. They were very appreciative. It was nice to help newbies.

I once heard a kid, maybe about 10, ask his parents "Is that Test Track?" as he pointed up at the monorail track. I can see how someone who didnt know would make the "track" connection, but I thought it was cute.

And I had to laugh at the Mr Smee comment. When I was still somewhat of a novice we got our picture taken with Mr Smee, and at the time I had no idea who he was.

This is somewhat related. I am planning a belated anniversary trip with my DH and also my best friend (we met the first day of high school) and her DH are taking a belated honeymoon. We're all planning the trip together. I tell her what package I booked, she books the same one. I find a better deal, she changes to that package, too. Then, I got the e-mail code and she was dumbfounded as to why AAA wouldn't give her the same deal! I told her it wasn't with AAA, it's an e-mail code. She had no idea what I was talking about and was a bit miffed that she couldn't get the new rate.

Of course, at this stage in the game (see countdown below), I have PS already made, I have my park itinerary planned out - EMH, mini-golf, DQ, park hours printed out, Food & Wine Festival, surprise Illuminations Cruise for DH (shhhh!). I told her DH and I wanted to take her to the Whispering Canyon to celebrate their belated honeymoon and asked her what night she had free. She hasn't made a single plan! Not a PS in sight! She has no idea when the parks open and close or which days are EMH days! This is amazing to me! We had said that we wouldn't be in each other's face all the time, but the urge to just hand her a pre-planned itinerary with a PS schedule is overwhelming! She's going to attempt to go down and (gasp!) wing it!

Of course she thinks I'm the lunatic...."just go eat when you want to eat"....amateurs!

Last summer we had just gotten back from a wonderful 2 week stay. I was at my dd's gymnastic class sitting with the other mothers and one asked about our trip. One of the other mothers popped up and wanted to know what we could possibly have done at WDW for 2 weeks. I started to name all the various main parks, and DQ and the water parks and she just looked at me goes, "Well, I knew they had built that new park, Epcot, but I didn't realize all those others!" I about flipped out - Epcot - new!

The only one that comes to mind right now is my cousin. She really thinks they did every thing there is to do in WDW in a couple of afternoons after her DH finished with softball (was playing in tournament at WDW). She keeps asking me why do we go back, since they saw it all in 2 afternoons. Than again this is the same couple that goes to the casinos in Biloxi many times a yr. I just say... haven't you seen everything in the casinos yet?
