Today I woke up to water in my kitchen, thought it was coming from under the kitchen sink.

NOPE- the water heater has a be leak. Called the Service Repairman at 8am this morning and was told that they ain't sure when someone can be out today(it's 5 hours later-no show).:(
Called my Home Owners insurances and their going to put in claim, but how much of the repair is going to be paid for is up to the claims adjuster.
So here I sit thinking, I'm going to WDW in 19 DAYS!!!, And I don't know why I keep looking at the calendar like the day is going to come any faster. I don't think I have ever look forward to going to the DIS so much in my life . It's either that or cry.

Thank you all for letting me ramble on..

May your day be sprinkled with PIXIE DUST:woohoo:

Our water heater burst and flooded our basement several years ago. There is nothing worse than having water where it doesn't belong! I feel your pain.

Not even 3 week to wait. Hold on! :goodvibes

Cee,
Thank you. I'm still waiting for the repairman to show up. If my Husband keeps turning on the water heater to find the leak I will never get my floors dry. I really wish the repairman would get here soon.

I dunno if this sentence makes me laugh or cry for you.

I had the WORST week starting 12/30...so I know the feeling. Vacation couldn't come soon enough.

I also had a leak so bad in my upstairs bathroom once (3 months ago) that I thought it was raining outside, until I looked at my kitchen ceiling and realized that it was my toilet that exploded upstairs. Awesome day, that was.

Good luck!

:) I do know how you feel. We lost everything 4 1/2 feet up in our home with Katrina, then my FIL passed 5 weeks later. Did Disney 4 months later....one of our best trips.

Thank you all for your kind words . The claims adjuster from my homeowners insurance came by and he will be cutting us a check tomorrow but the list he gave us was so long, it makes my mind spin, thanks again. I have know idea what happen to the repairman. He's still a no show.

:rotfl:Rec a call from my Home Owners Insurance and they are cutting me a check today . I have a company coming out tomorrow to take out and install the new water heater. Then we being on replacing all the stuff that got water damage.
When it's all done, I'm on a plane to DISNEY:cool1::cool1::cool1: .
See there was a Silver lining, I just couldn't see it because of the clouds:rotfl:

PIXIE DUST TO EVERYONE pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

With that kind of water damage, depending on what your cabinets are made of possibly a whole new kitchen. Which can be it's own storm but fun once it's over.

What ever happened to the repairman? Do you have a choice to fire him, or did you go with a different company?

Update about the "MIA repairman.
I call the company this morning , that was suppose to send someone out. I told them that they don't need to send anyone out, that I'm firing them (the company) for lousy service(none at all) no returned calls about when, or if anyone was going to show up. 24 hours was too long to wait. We found someone else.

Good for you. In this situation, you need someone immediately, and if they can't see that, you don't need to give them your business.

I would be so happy it happened while I was home.

We had to replace ours two days before our sons wedding in September. You have no idea how happy I was that it did not happen on his wedding day.

Still a hassle. I never thought of calling my homeowners - did they cover the new tank and installation?? Just curious for next time.

Enjoy your trip!!!!

Did they even come out and inspect the damages before cutting you a check ... 2 day turn around time, you're already getting a check! It didn't happen, thank goodness while you were at Disney which would have been way worse and better yet you're going to Disney in what 17 days, it's all good

Seems you've got your share of pixiedust:

Have a great time!

Yes ,the My Home Owners Insurance adjuster came out looked at all of the damage and took pictures.

Rec my check today:rotfl:and had the "NEW" Water Heater was installed today (the check sent - less my deductible), so it pay for the Water Heater.

Have Friend who is (licensed/Bonded) in the construction business and gave us an assessment this morning just before the Water heater was install(saved me $$$).My husband has known him for over 30 years.

NO damage to my lower cabinets(good thing my husband pulled them right away),but my sub floor and walls and flooring & insulation are going to be replaced. Then paint and re -install floor and lower cabinets. And I sure there are things I have forgotten, but MY WATER HEATER IS INSTALLED

We were very lucky and were home when it happened.
