Ever had a lousy Standard View room at YC?

Seriously eyeing Yacht Club for our next trip. Considered going with a water view but read the view might be obstructed so why pay the extra money? So I think we're going to go with a Standard. Is that a good choice? Have you ever had a lousy standard view at YC?

We didn't really like either of the rooms they gave us. First room looked out into a "wooded" area with a smallish pond thing....would have been nice, but the room was very dark, so we requested a new room. Next room was over the roofline that is the walkway that leads to the Conventions center. It was sunny and bright so we stayed put, but looked out at a roof and the driveway all week. I think there are a lot of opportunities for poor room view at YC. Good luck with whatever you do.

We've booked a standard there three times. Got upgraded to water view once. Another time we overlooked a gazebo and water over toward the Swan and Dolphin -- beautiful view. Once we overlooked the front of the resort, which did put us seeing the parking lot.

The two nice views were better, but I'm still not willing to pay extra. I love this resort and would gladly see any view just to enjoy the room, pool, location and general ambience.

I had standard room, sounds like what HM is describing--only I really liked it. Small pond with ducks out the balcony. I didn't like the walk from the front desk area of the hotel, it was very long!! It was convienent from our room to go to the marina, pool, boardwalk area. I don't remember the room number, sorry.

We just returned and had a standard view. We looked out over the parking lot and roof line of another building. I went out on the balcony a few times, but we could see the staff sitting down taking their breaks. I think it's just the way the resort is situated on the property, but I don't assume there are many great views.

I would request a room close to quiet pool and or laundry, there are no bad rooms on that side of YC

At the Yacht Club, "standard view" rooms that have an excellent view are really few and far between. In most cases, you will overlook parking lots, etc. I hope that this doesn't disappoint you. We stay at the Yacht Club for the location, the pool, and its friendliness and caring. Go and enjoy! :D

:boat: And I will not pay for this privilage at the YC again. My first room I got the same watering hole as HM! They said that was a "canal" and a water-view room! I said its not a pool or the lake? Its the back end of the dolphin resort? We got to move after 1 day. Next trip: ok roof views of SAB and lake. Then the favorite 3rd floor over the back entrance of the YC (can't think of the room #) Its a tree view but if you lay on the floor you can see the lake! And of course all the people coming and going make if nice and noisey area. Worse room in Yc we ever had. (what was that pond room #)? :smooth:

I've decided never to get a waterview here again. Actually we started staying at the BC. :earseek: (I know, the balcony thing) that kept us out of there for years, but its a trade off, we really prefer everything about the bc. (between the two) pirate:
