For those of you trying to talk yourselves out of your gut feeling, I recommend you read the book "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin DeBecker.
Excellent book!

I've had more CREEPY than NOT CREEPY.
I'm a single mom so I get the kind who look around for the "man of the house" then come back with the lovely plan to STAY.
I had a lawn guy come back with his two cute little kids to show me what a GREAT FATHER he is...
The AC guy noticed I wasn't interested so he asked if I had any friends? All the while showing me the crack of his butt while fixing my AC.
Now my son is so big I keep him around when they show up. It's pathetic. I keep thinking that all they want is a "made nest".![]()
Okay, I have to ask. How the heck do all these repair guys know you are single? I'm looking around my house now and there is absolutely nothing that indicates that I am married. Our wedding picture is in a locked vault because that thing is old and scary looking now!I do have a wall dedicated to family pictures. While there are pictures of me and DH, there are also pictures of me and my brothers/brother-in-laws. I don't encourage repair guys to check out my family pictures anyway. I rarely wear my wedding ring when I am in the house so that wouldn't give it away either. I would hope most repair guys are professional enough to not hit on their customers.

I call that, "making small talk".

I once had a carpet cleaner ask me a few times "if all my kids were from my husband" and "How was I so sure".. it was so very very strange!!
I knew someone who had the reverse scenario: He was a repairman and had a few creepy customers. This was my landlord. His wife told me that there was a woman who called his HVAC company all the time. When he would arrive she would yell "come in," and he would walk in and she would be alying nude on the couch. He would walk by her and go down into the basement. When he saw there was nothing wrong with the furnace he would sit down there for a while, then come back upstairs and walk by the couch with his head down and say "you're all set," and just walk out.
People are strange!
. And if I was a single woman, I'd either tell the truth if asked my marital status, or if I was getting a creepy vibe, I'd just say he was at the store, or at work.
It must suck to need to have so many repairs, though.
