while DISsing on a computer other than the one you usually DIS on?

I just spent about a half hour writing a new thread, checking spelling, etc., & went to post but found I had been thrown off & had to log back on. This has happened before on this computer (I usually Dis on another computer, we won't say where though:rolleyes1). I've logged back on & it saved my response but not this time. It kept coming up with a message to go back & reload or something. But it didn't work & I lost my long vent post.

I know, some of you are saying "long vent post, glad it was lost". :goodvibes

Anyway, has this every happened to you?

Yes all the time...I don't type very fast. (this message alone took 10 minutes and I got kicked off twice). Seriously, it happens to me so much I now have a DIS post phobia. :headache:

One thing I've noticed is that sometimes, when you follow a link to another thread, sometimes you are no longer considered logged in. For example, try opening these two links: You'll probably be logged in for one link and not logged in for the other.

Ever get "unlogged in"

i always assumed it was like timing out. If i read posts for awhile without commenting I often find I am unlogged in - I figured it is like timing my inactivity (since I only need to be logged in to respond, not read).

I don't think it is anything to worry about, happens to us all. But I am sorry you lost your post - I imagine that is frustrating.

It never happens on the other computer that I usually use. I don't even have to log in on that one. I suppose my logon is somehow saved on it.

Its the vbulletin software used on the forum logging you out on a timeout. If you click the "remember me" box when you log in, it won't happen.

I learned ages ago, especially when doing picture threads, which take a looong time to do, but also for any post much more than a few sentences, to first do it in Word or similar, then copy and paste here. The boards here have been skittish for years, as long as I can recall.

Yeah try logging out, then back in, but make sure you hit the "remember me" box. See if that works for you.
