Ever feel like you were alone at WDW?

Ever have an experience where it was like you were the only one there? To do this you have to remember that timing is everything.

Many years ago I was at EPCOT one day right in front of the fountain . A thunderstorm was really starting to get it's act together. I was standing in the plaza as the fountain started playing. The rain came down in buckets, the lightening was flashing and the thunder was deafening. After a few minutes of this I turned around to see how everyone else was enjoying this sensory overload. I was the ONLY person in the entire plaza! What a rush.

Try getting to TL or BB right when it opens. Go immediately to the rivers. Last year I was able to swim/float around both of them nearly the entire way without ever seeing another guest.

I've waited for the rope drop at WS and been nearly alone for upwards of 15 minutes or more. It's pretty cool as most of the CM's are outside waving to you and saying good morning.

Hang out at EPCOT after RoE is over until around 10 p.m. You'll start to hear things like frogs calling to each other in the lake once the crowds are gone.

If all else fails, do an E-Ticket night if they're having one. As far as I know, I've never been to one that's had more than 1000 people. The wonder of walking through the MK when it's amazingly quiet is such a treat.

When me and my fiance went last year we were at Mickey's Not So Scarry Halloween Party, and we went on Splash Mountain. We were the only ones on the ride or even in line for that matter. It was great b/c she loves Splash and we were able to just keep riding and not even get off for that matter.

My family and I dined at Sci-Fi about four years after the opening of MGM. We arrived there probably a half an hour before closing.

We had our meal, took us around an hour and a half to finish. There were about 10 or more other families in the restaurant. We then left and found ourselves, by ourselves.

It was very wierd. We walked all the way from Sci-Fi to the maingate with only seeing two security guards, that told us to have a good night. It felt like we owned the place.

Last yr after having dinner at Garden Grill at Epcot , Dh, DD and myself walked out of the building and there was no one around but a CM at a street cart. It was strange. We kept walking and soon ran into this massive crowd . We didn't realize it was time for the parade . That is where everybody was. And I do mean everybody!! We walked for a good 5 mins without seeing a sole before seeing all these people crowded around the lake. It felt like it was a ghost town. But I must say it was sort of nice too.

We went 2 weeks after 9/11 and got that feeling a lot. Once midday in Epcot, in a main walkway I looked around and there was no one around. I took out the video camera to tape it because it was so weird. Then again during EE on that trip we went on IASW. Not only did we have our own boat, but as far as we could see in front of us and behind us there was no one else there. It was sort of creepy, almost didnt seem like WDW. :(

We stayed at the Dolphin on our last trip and did EE at EPCOT. We went in through the backdoor and walked through an empty WS to meet my DSis, DBiL, and their DS. We have pictures of the kids infront of Spaceship Earth with not another soul in sight.

One year, DW and me had finished dinner at San Angel Inn, inside the Mexico pavilion in WS. We came out at about 10-10:30. We walked all through WS to the International Gateway. A few CMs here and there, saying 'Good Night' to us, but no one else! We felt like we owned the place. My DW still remembers that night as one of the most romantic nights of our married life! ;)

I have FELT like I was the only person in the Magic Kingdom when I was surrounded by people. It's a kind of zone I can get into when gazing at the castle, gleaming in the morning sun, and listening to the music playing on Main St. I love that feeling.

Just this past February my husband and I went on Maelstrom about 5 minutes before Illuminations. We were the only ones on the ride (they wouldn't show us the movie, though).

Back in 1999 at MVMCP, the hubby and I rode Splash Mountain several times in a row with no one else around. The rope lines up to the ride are really, really long when you just have to keep running through them!

My favorite "alone" experience was from years ago (back when Disney World meant the Magic Kingdom because there wasn't anything else there). My family was at MK at night just around closing. We kept running on for "just one more ride" and noticed that no CMs were closing up any rides, no one was ushering us out, etc.... My dad asked what was going on and a CM told him that the park had been rented out for a corporate event. They said that we could stay and ride all we wanted, but we couldn't buy anymore tickets (I told you this was a long time ago). We had a big stockpile of tickets (we went to Disney every year to visit the grandparents), so while the corporate types were having dinner/meeting/etc.... my sister and I rode every ride we could by ourselves! We stayed about and hour, hour and a half before we saw anyone else. It was like the park was open only for us! Pretty cool!

Speaking of tickets, my dad just found an old packet of D tickets in his dresser drawer. Ahhhhh, the memories.

The Friday morning after 9/11, MK, tomorrowland. Hurricane (?Gabrielle??) blowing thru FL, and it was raining buckets HORIZONTALLY! Very few other guests in MK that morning--only the insane ones like us

Before DH and I got married, I took him for his first time to WDW March 2001. And he absolutely loved Epcot, it's his favorite park now. But one of the nights we were at Epcot, and Illluminations had started. We decided to skip on it since we saw it the night before, and we took advantage of the nearly non-existent line at Test Track. We were pretty much the only ones on the ride, and the most beautiful and memorable part was the outside portion of the ride. When we got out, the fireworks were going off in the sky and it was just beautiful. I love magic moments like those!

on our very last day DS7 spent his carefully saved up souvenir $$ on the little tiny Star Wars figures, carried them around proudly, and then, sadly, set them down somewhere and forgot them. After he went to bed that night, I raced back to MGM and was totally alone since everyone was at Fantasmic. It had just rained, so the streetlights were reflecting in the puddles, it was so beautiful. I rebought the figures, then stopped at the service desk on the way out, where they gave me a signed photo of Pluto. I propped the photo up on DS's stuffed Pluto, put the figures all around, and when he woke up the next a.m., he said, "I KNEW Pluto would find my Star Wars guys!" A magical end to a magical trip...

My high school marching band participated in Magic Music Days. We had a rehearsal at Epcot backstage the morning we performed. When we finished, they let us into World Showcase shortly before the park opened. We had the entire World Showcase to ourselves and it took at least a half an hour for the crowds to work their way back there once the park opened.

we rode splash mountain at the end of Enight, and they let us stay on 3 times in a row. We decided to buy a picture, then my 5 yo DD saw Brer Fox and Brer Rabbit, and she just had to get them for Daddy, who loves "song of the south."

The CM (a grampa type) had already closed the cash register, but she produced her princess tears (quivering chin, big drops falling silently down the face). He melted and sold them to her. (My credit card :-(. I got no credit with Daddy.)

When we finally came out, the Kiss Goodnight was in full swing. It had just finished sprinkling, and the lights and walks were shimmering. The "good bye, we love you, come back tomorrow, LEAVE NOW" romantic music was playing--and WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE PARK, ALL THE WAY FROM SPLASH MOUNTAIN TO THE FRONT GATE, except for security and a few CMs applying brooms. Mickey and Minnie were still at the base of the castle waving goodnight, and several cast members called "good night" "good night" as if we were departing royalty. It was magic.

Similar to CamColt, we went about a week after 9/11. At one point, DW and DD were in the emporium shopping and I took a walk out onto Main St. I looked down to the train station and up to the castle and for about 30-45 seconds, I was the absolute only person on Main St., not even any vehicles.

CamColt is correct, it really didn't even feel like WDW. Kind of spooky...

About 12 years ago, we went to WDW during the week of Easter. We went to Typhoon Lagoon on a cloudy day. When we got there, a few people were in line, but not many. We went in, got a locker and some chairs. Other people scattered.

We went into the wave pool and were the only ones there. Just my wife, son and myself. 4 lifeguards were sitting up above. We must have been in the pool 15 minutes before someone else came in...

I made the comment that no one would ever believe we had the wave pool all to ourselves....but for a short time...we did..

DH and I were in WDW in December, about a week after Journey Into Imagination with Figment had re-opened. Our guide on the Undiscovered Future World tour told us that the ride had re-opened so recently that everyone still assumed that it was closed. Boy was he right!

A couple of days after the tour we were back at Epoct and decided to hit Journey Into Imagination again. Now, we always go in off-season, so no lines isn't really new for us. But I'd never seen anything like this! Not only was there no line, there was no one on the ride! The ride had been turned off with the car just sitting, waiting to be loaded. The CMs loaded us up, started the ride back up, and sent us on our way. We had the entire train of cars to ourselves. That was pretty cool.

In January of 2002, we just came off the jungle cruise, the place was so empty, everyone had rushed to get seats to see the fireworks over the castle.

We hurried to the Alladin ride, and since there was no line, they let us ride again, just as the fireworks went off. The CM let us stay up there until the fireworks stopped!

I do believe we had the best view of all... and there were only about 10 of us!

What a wonderful night!

In June 2001, during an e-night, it was after midnight and me, my daughter, my sister and her daughter, were walking in front of the castle. There wasn't a soul around. All of a sudden who comes walking down the walkway but Mickey.

We have the most beautiful photo of us and Mickey in front of the castle.

It was truly magic.
