While in my office yesterday I started to doze off at my desk. I even caught myself a few times before hitting the monitor or desk and keyboard

Man those muscle relaxers make me drowsy

LOL... Well not actually fall asleep at work, but I do take 10 minute naps during lunch. Hey, it's my lunch hour... But I have to be careful, sometimes those naps can result in a full blown sleeps... and my manager might walk in on me. LOL! :)

About a month or so, I was waiting for my computer to boot up. I didn't realize I fell asleep until my boss yelled "GOOD MORNING SHANNON!":o He usually says it quietly.:o I about jumped out of my skin. Luckily he didn't see me, my monitor was blocking me.:o

no, but we used to have a woman here who literally slept all day.

needless to say, she didn't last very long. LOL

Little difficult to fall asleep while teaching or interpreting. Too active. Now I have had my clients fall asleep on me. In fact, the guy I was interpreting for last night was falling asleep at times. It was pretty boring.

We had a guy nod off at work a couple of times. I emphasize "HAD". Once during a meeting at the end of a long day, I fought to stay awake. The lights were down for an a/v presentation, the ceiling fans in the conference room were spinning, and the topic was tedious. Scared me to death that I might fall asleep.

I had a sub fall asleep in my class once!!! He was subbing for a one on one for a very active child, and during morning meeting I looked over, and he was asleep:eek:

I've fallen asleep in faculty meetings when the lights are down after a very busy day, but no, not while I'm teaching. The kids would probably put makeup on me or put my hand in a glass of warm water- or worse!

I'm a substitute teacher and no, I never have but I still love hearing the stories about another sub going to sleep in a 7th grade Science class!!!:jester:

Oh ya! Back in my partying days when I would stay out until 2:00-3:00 am on Thursday nights(well, technically Fri) and then get up for work at 6:00am I would be mush at work. At my old job around 2:00pm we would have to wait for the branch offices to bring us the work. So while waiting I would put my head down on the desk and sometimes doze off. Ahhh to be young again!
Now when I doze off during the day, its not because I was out having fun the night before.

If I am subbing one on one I will be signing so can't nod off. Since I am the only sub in the school that signs I am usually in a situation where I will need to sign.

In a daycare you don't get sleepy!!!:p

Yes, I'm embarassed to say. I was working 11-7 in a nursing home and had been sick. Sat in a chair and Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!:o

The only time I have fallen asleep at work was during the last tri-mester of my pregnancy. For about a week at 3 pm in the afternon - I would get just unimaginably SLEEPY! It was AWFUL! I would literally nod off as I was typing on the computer.... nose hits the monitor screen... OUCH!

Thankfully it only lasted a week - and I had my own private office - so it really went undetected... but made me really nervous.

Yes. 2nd trimester. We would soon find out I was getting sick and it would later turn into pneumonia. I had a 45-minute commute and was afraid I'd go to sleep behind the wheel. After the students left for the day, I went to sleep in my classroom.

We had an announcement at the next staff meeting to the effect of "if you need to take your sick days, take them!" But this was the same principal that made me do all my parent-teacher conferences via phone. (I'd already been gone from school three weeks, he knew my doctor was recommending the sub go ahead and take over, and I was only awake for 2-3 hours a day due to meds. He didn't care. And before anybody says it was my job, I had run out of sick days by that time and wasn't getting paid. Can you tell I'm still angry? ;) )
