Got a call from a mega-bank on my business line today. They were reaching out to business owners in the community to let them know they were opening up a local branch.

They never bothered to check that not only do I have personal banking with them as well as two business accounts. Talk about a good idea gone horribly wrong. While the reaching out part was a nice change for business, acting surprised when I said I bank with them was a huge #fail.

Ever experience a marketing fail like that? Be from a bank or elsewhere?

Tsk tsk tsk, is that a thumbs down I see

I wouldn't necessarily call it a fail, it sounds like they are just calling local phone numbers gathered from a database. I wouldn't expect them to cross reference them with all their existing customers.

I wouldn't call that a fail. Each branch is seperate and the new branch want people to come to THAT branch whether it is for maintaining your current accounts or opening up any other accounts or lines of credit with that bank.

I think if an institution like a bank calls to solicit customers without knowing you're already a customer, it wouldn't look to good in my eyes.
