Introduced BIL's girlfriend to the neighbors as "Lisa", she had to correct me and say "no, actually, it's Lynne". I can be such an IDIOT! I should just shut my mouth unless I am 100% sure, because I have trouble with names.

Years ago I called my second wife by my first wife's name... in front of her mother... beginning of the end! I had no idea why I did that and new I was wrong as the name passed my lips, but, too late!

A guy a know is called Robin. He has known anotherman for about 25 years. The problem was when they met the man accidentally called my friend Colin but my friend didn't correct him. The problem is now he still calls my friend Colin. Everyone knows the story and when this guy is around my friend we all have to call him Colin as well as he can't face telling the guy he has been calling him the wrong name for 25 years!!

I do this from time to time. Big heart, small brain.

Many people get very upset by this (I never knew why). My name is common and everyone calls me Lori, Lauren, Lisa, Linda. I am rarely called by my given name and it does not bother me a bit.

But why are people so angry when their name is misspelled, said wrong or given a different name?
