It would depend upon the boat.

There are "weekend" plans for canoes and pirouges on the 'net. These boats don't have complicated ribs or hulls.

Something like a little v-hull would take you longer, as you would have to pick up the skills needed for building one.

And is this something you'd be doing full time or would you be leading an team for Naval Investigations as your day job?

If I remember correctly from "World War Z", they don't need to swim. They walk along the bottom. (Lazy slugs)
