I got a really good deal on Coronado Springs one year through Travelocity. I forget what it was, but it was less than what Disney was charging to stay at the Port Orleans hotels.
Last fall there was a promo where deluxes were discounted (maybe 30%-35% ?) and Cheaptickets was running their own 20% off, so it turned into a pretty nice discount. Booked a weekend at Wilderness Lodge. And in case you're curious, you can take the confirmation number you get from Cheaptickets and link it into MDE, get Magicbands, etc. Only thing is you can't modify the reservation in MDE; you would still need to do that thru Cheaptickets.
Can anyone book using the UK expedia site (even if from the US)? If so, is there anything out of the ordinary that would need done or I'd need to know?

I routinely pay $120/nt for POR. This trip through orbitz but have also gone through Expedia. That is 50ish percent off the fictional rack rate, and about the most that hotel is worth before you get way more for less $$ offsite.

Yes, anyone can book on it...even if you are from the US.
You need to know the following:
Just like any other Expedia deal, you have to pay in full when you book.
The price that you see will be in British £s, not US $. You will be given to option to pay with US$ at checkout, but it will include a currency conversion fee. If you have a credit card that waives foreign transaction fees, it is better to pay in £s.
The Expedia website will not allow more than 3 people in a regular room, regardless of what Disney's capacity is. There have been varying reports of having difficulty adding additional children to a reservation thru Expedia.
You will have to obtain your Disney reservation number from Expedia if you want to book DME or add it to your MDE account. The Expedia confirmation number is not the same as the Disney reservation number. It can be done via email, but again there have been some reports of difficulty obtaining that number.
You cannot make changes to your reservation (like adding a day or moving to another week) without cancelling the whole thing and starting over. Unlike dealing with Disney where you just make a call and the CM handles the rest for you.
You cannot add the dining plan or tickets. It's a room-only reservation.
If you cancel, your refund will be in £s. Again, not a problem if you used a CC that waives foreign transaction fees. However, you will be subject to the fluctuation of the £ vs. US$. You will be refunded based on whatever the conversion rate is on the day that you cancel.
So it looks like Disney might be using these other sites to fill rooms with discounts lower then on their own site.
Is it something where you are checking Orbitz, Cheaptickets, Expedia, LMTclub etc. often and looking for a price drop? Is it more of a last minute deal or do you find these rates months in advance?
Sometimes it is available to Cast members and their families for that price. The CM must be a part of the reservation though...they must be a named person staying in the room on the reservation.
Have done it. It is an awesome deal!!!

yup, what she said, it was only the quick service, but that's what we wanted anyway, it had to be the cheapest trip we've ever taken. Now if DD would only go back to work for Disney, I would be able to book this years trip
