Has anyone attended a private party paid for by Disney themselves at Disneyland on a weeknight (so there will not be fireworks as per the Anaheim ordinace)? If so, what might we expect?

My five year old son has autism and he is one of the "Dreams Come True" nominees, so our family will be attending the private party on the 8th. I have heard when Disney throws a party, it is a PARTY! Yet, I want to prepare him if at all possible. Also does anyone know if they are good about coming up with an extra ticket to the party if you have an extra family member coming?

There were about 100 nominees from across the country and they will pick one or more of them to make their "dreams come true." All together there will be about 800-1000 people attending the party.

Thanks for any and all input.

This might be question better asked on the DIS's, disABILITIES!, board. It covers alot more.

Thank you so much! I have read over there a lot and it is very helpful. The thing is with children with autism, they do better if we prep them for events.

My question here is more about what I should expect at a private party thrown by Disney? I have asked our trip planner, but she has no details other than "When Disney throws a party, it is like nothing you have ever seen before!"

I am hoping somebody here can give me some insight that has attended a private party thrown by Disney before. All I know is they close the park at 8 PM and reopen it at 9 PM for this party that lasts until 1 AM that is called "Dreams Come True!"

Blessings to you and thank you again!

The private parties can vary...it really depends on what they have planned. I have been to some where the entire park is open, but more often, only one or two lands have been open with more limited attractions. Being a parent of a young child with ASD, I understand the concern and need to prepare and plan. My recommendation to you is to have your child as prepared as possible knowing that many of the magical aspects of the evening will not be known until you get there. Tough, I know. Do not promise that he will get to ride specific attractions should the event be held in a more contained area of the park (only one or two lands, for example). This is probably the most important thing I think I can suggest to you.

Since you mentioned that Disney is planning the event, I am certain you will have a wonderful time. Depending on the theme and event being staged - there are many exciting suprizes for you and your family.

Looking forward to hearing all about your special day!
