As a part of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society 'Un-Meeting', on Oct 1st "The Little FWRR" train layout will be on display at the Wilderness Lodge. If you are in the area, stop by and take a look and say hello! See the NEWS page on my website for more info. Better yet, hurry up and join the CPHS (carolwood.com) and join in the weekend fun. Thanks, Russell. :wave2:

Also, as part of the Carolwood Society
. . . various tours
. . . special steam train tour
. . . special Walt trains seminar
. . . walking the extinct Fort Wilderness train route

NOTE: As a member of the Society, I plan upon attending.

Over on the East side of the campground, where the railroad runs beside of the canal. I had a hard time getting thru there while I was trying to follow the tracks. I followed the rails as far as I could, and then the bushes and trees were starting to get real thick. How do you guys get thru there? If I were in town, I would love to go on this walk on the old route. But I won't be there until October 16th.

FWRR3 and TheRustyScupper lookng forward to meeting you, as both my Hudband and I are also memeber and will be there.

Leaving Friday and will be at the Fort for Thursday

Hey fellow Carolwood members!

My wife and I will be there this year and could not be more excited. Just got my two FWRR coaches to be pulled by my FWRR electric engine.

We are always down at WDW for Columbus Day weekend and changed our plans, extended the trip, to get to the Unmeeting.

We were very lucky to get a "Barn" tour this past March and I posted a YouTube of the visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUkSkAghsXY

See you there!

I too am looking forward to this awesome weekend with the rest of you CPHS members!

Jon,

I fought my way through the brush following the railroad bed along the small canal behind loop 1500 then for a short ways where it turned north along the big canal. Of course, that was in November when the cold weather had knocked all the leaves off the trees and the vines had stopped growing.

I followed the road bed behind loop 700 twice and followed each side of the split where it came around to the TCD area.

So I am curious how much the club will faithfully follow the true bed.

Luckycharm19335, I'll certainly be posting pictures on my website, and there is usually info about the Un-Meetings on the Burnsland.com train forums after the event.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of you guys and gals there next weekend! :wave2:

Thank you so much.
I will be visiting your site regularly looking for the pictures.
Have a wonderful weekend.

BUMP - Just a reminder. Hope to meet some of you tomorrow!

:bday: WDW!

Randall,

Nice pix of your layout in the Iron Spike Room. A classic place for your layout. I particularly like the closeup pix of the VW bus camper and the original entrance sign. :worship:

I looked at the Burnsland forum and no mention was made of following the original FWRR layout around the Fort property. I'm curious if you could shed some light on that activity particularly how deep in the woods they got on the portion between loop 300 and 1500. And about how they followed the entire layout as a whole. The split behind loop 700 is easy to follow in either direction.

Thank you for the links to the pictures and the blog.
The train layout is amazing.
I can tell by all of the special touches that this is a labor of love.
Amazing!

Bama_ed, thanks for the positive comments.

I'm sorry, I cannot tell you about the Sunday FWRR trek, because I unfortunately didn't make it, after knocking myself out getting the layout up and down at the WL. Hopefully, someone at Burnsland will post about the other Un-Meeting events. Or you could ask David Leaphart, who posts on here. He might even see this and answer your question.

Thanks for the photos! I wish I could have made it! (Society member for years) Did Mike/Sharron make it out east for event this year?

Thanks, everyone, for the interest. I'm looking forward to Halloween! :cool1:

DVCconvert, unfortunately, Michael (and Sharon) did not make it to the Un-Meeting this year, which was quite surprising. I'm not sure why that was but he certainly was missed.

Hey Russell!! I can't believe that we still did not meet each other!! I made it to the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains, the meeting at the All Star, and the Marceline to MK tour. I didn't get to any of the other events at all.

Your setup looks great! I love the musket mickey sign!

The Broogies did not make it this year. They were tied up with some personal business back home.

I took a whole lot of photos of the events I attended, and once I get them sorted out, I will post a link to the album for any who are interested.
