Evening Extra Magic Hours?

As I'm sure you all know, beginning Jan. 2 the Extra Magic Hour program is changing around to include extra magci hour at night-time after the park closes. This is EXTREMELY interesting to me, but in order to take advantage of it I'll have to re-do our entire itinerary.

At http://www.allearsnet.com it is posted that Evening Extra Magic Hours are to extend approximately 3 hours into the evening after the park has closed to the general public. However, last week when I was on the phone with WDW Dining reschedule one of my PSes, I was talking with the agent trying to figure out what time would be best, so that I could get back to MK in time for the extended hours. She said, with a bit of hesitancy, that if the park closes at 7 pm, then the Extra Magic Hour will extend until 8 pm... Only ONE hour.

I'll happily re-arrange our itin and all of my PSes in order to take advantage of an extra 2-3 hours in the evening at MK and Epcot... But just one hour really isn't worth it to me. Has anybody here heard any more information regarding the new extended hours?

Any advice or thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

Everything I have read and seen about the evening EMH thus far has said 3 hours after normal closing time. This includes people that have posted that they did the test run for it in May and it was 3 hours. I don't even think it would be worth their trouble (since they have to hand out wrist bands to on site guests since the park will not close and then reopen) or money for just one additional hour. The wrist bands will get you on the rides after the EMH starts and others will not be able to ride, where as in the morning they let only the resort guests in at that hour. To make it worth it they would have to do the 3 hours.

We were there for the "testing" of the EMH at night. It was indeed an extra 3 hours after closing at the alloted park.

It was great because our trip ended on a MGM night. We ended up not leaving the park until 12:30am. Totally awesome, no lines and a great late night at the park!

Hi!

I think that extra 3 hrs is great!! We were there over Christmas, and it helped having the park open until 11pm-12am everynight.
I booked another trip with just my daughter at the end on January, and we will miss the late night at the MK We arrive after one of the nights, and leave the day of the next night for MK late opening)
It will take more planning for our next trip in June to make sure we're at the right parks at the right time. That is, if this will be continued.
