Evening Entertainment in hotels

Well it's never too early to start planning so I've started giving thought to summer 2007.

I'm toying with the idea of a week at either the Gulf coast or preferably the Atlantic coast (not that I'm scared of hurricanes or anything ). Ideally what I'm looking for is a hotel/Apartment style complex where entertainment is laid on during the day (water volleyball, water polo, quizzes etc) and also in the evening (quizzes, cabaret etc).

This is easy to find in the Balearics/Cyprus but I have never seen Florida hotels that lay this on. Nearest I've seen is a day time kids club (up to 12). I can understand this in Orlando as who's going to stay in the hotel but I thought that perhaps some of the beach hotels may provide the entertainment.

Does anyone know of any hotel that provides entertainment - I was beginning to wonder if the strict drink laws meant that kids wouldnt be allowed in the bar in the evening.

This won't exactly help but might do in a different way

The hotels I have stayed in on the Gulf coast (beachfront) have all had "beach" bars. Not always on the beach exactly, but outside. What DH & I like to do is grab a drink and sit outside on the deck watching the children in the playground (if there is one at your hotel).

One of the hotels I stayed in that had an outside bar also had one inside and we did take the children (aged 5 & 8 at the time) in for a drink. We definitely weren't made unwelcome. There was entertainmnet along the lines of a man on an keyboard which was OK for half an hour but personally I found really annoying after a while, so we just went outside to play shuffleboard & table tennis with our drinks & the children.
