We are arriving on 6-5-19 for a 4 day stay. We had originally planned to do a resort pool day on our arrival day and hit MK the next morning. I saw yesterday that MK has EMH 10:00-12:00 the night or our arrival. Generally how crowded are those? We will have our 6 year old grandson, so I am debating whether it would be better to do EMH or rope drop the next morning.

Thanks,

MK EMH would be most valuable from 11:15-12am. If you don’t plan on taking advantage of the very end, it’s not worthwhile. Especially since the park will be more crowded before the EMH.
You might be able to argue a rope drop would be better than the EMH.

Would your 6 year old grandson even be able to stay up that late? My kids are 5 and 8 and no way would they last that late, especially on a travel day! If it were me, I would just do rope drop the next morning.

That is kind of what I was thinking. Rope drop is more what I am leaning towards.

At home maybe....but with a travel day and all of the excitement, I am not so sure. We did a 4 day cruise last spring and he did pretty well when the excitement was going on. I think rope drop would be better probably. We are usually fall travelers to the parks and I am not sure about June. I am thinking more about a pool day on arrival day and rope drop the next day.

Keep in mind that the hours posted now are tentative, and will likely be extended closer to June. We regularly visit during the first week of June, and have found EMH to be either 11pm to 1 am or midnight to 2 am. A few years ago, we found a 1 am to 3 am EMH but you don't see those too much anymore.

As previously stated, the crowds do dwindle as the night progresses. By close to midnight pretty much everything is a walkon. All of EMH will be less crowded than rope drop.

That 6 year old might like it. My fondest Disney memory is chasing my then 3 year old daughter back to the entrance of Space Mountain moments before midnight with her screaming "One More Time Daddy" all the way.
