Evening arrival and getting APs activates.

Hi all! My BF and I will have APs for our upcoming trip. I realize that we have to activate them before going to the parks. We will arrive on a Friday night to stay at CSR around 6-7. Should we check in, take a bus to a park for activation and try to catch a ride or two? Or would it be better to drive to a park before checking in? Or should we ditch the park and get the passes activated at DS? We have also considered watching the fireworks somewhere (MVMCP) Would just love to hear opinions on the best ideas. Thanks

Is your booked with any kind of AP discount?

No. I’m traveling over Veterans Day. The only AP discounts that were available were at ASSR. I would have taken Pop, but rather have a moderate.

We've activated ours at night in the past and never had an issue. As long as the park is open there's at least 1 or 2 ticket windows

If MVMCP fireworks are your goal...
One of the best "outside the park" viewing locations for MK fireworks is at the TTC ferry loading area.
(See maps below.)
Take the bus to MK, exit and get aboard the resort monorail and exit at TTC.
You can see and hear the fireworks from that area and there are ticket booths there where you can get your APs activated.

Otherwise, you can ask at your resort's Concierge desk to see if they can activate your APs.

You can do which ever you prefer, but there is no problem with checking in before your AP's are activated, even if you did book with an AP rate.

You can do which ever you prefer, but there is no problem with checking in before your AP's are activated, even if you did book with an AP rate.

And, if you use on-line check-in, there is virtually no need to visit the check-in desk at all during your entire trip (unless specifically asked to do so.)

If you activate your AP and go into the park on Friday night to catch a ride or two, that is when your year countdown starts. If you aren't concerned about losing that day on the end of your AP timeline, then I would say go for it! You are there, why not get the party started right away!

You could just take any of the available transportation from the TTC to MK and then catch a bus from MK back to your resort.

As long as a park is open for something other than a private party (IE a company renting out the park for the night) WDW will provide transportation. And even though the party tickets cost alot now, there are definitely still people who get to the party late, or leave early.

1. Yes.
2. Ferry boat or monorail back to MK front gates area. Bus back to your resort.
