Hi friends, I have yet another stroller question. I know the Mac Volo is very popular and I am leaning that way. I have ruled out the Combi Urban. But the evenflo is sooooo much cheaper $39.99 vs. $80 and up for the Volo. Does anyone have any experience with the evenflo? My biggest concern is that my DD6 is 45 lbs./45 inches and may be too big for the evenflo for our October trip (max weight is 40 lbs., although I think we can get away with it.) My concern is that since she is so old for a stroller, I'd be spending a lot of money on the MacLaren and won't get much use out of it. Please share your thoughts and especially your experience with the evenflo...Thanks!

I don't have any personal experience yet, but I will come this Saturday! We are heading to see Mickey and I ordered one from Amazon and had it shipped to our resort.

I've read lots of great reviews for it and people said it held up, even if the kids are over the weight limit. My ds is the same age and size as your ds, but a few inches taller.

I can give you my opinion of it when we come home the beginning July if you'd like.

We bought 2 for our May trip and I love them! I never want to use anything else again. The raised handles are a lifesaver! My kids are smaller...my 2 year old is 37 inches and 29 lbs, so I can't give you exact info other than my nieces and nephews who are older always want to climb into our strollers :confused3 so I will assume they are comfortable for the older kids too.

Best part is the weight of the stroller! They were so easy to close and carry on the buses!:thumbsup2

I looked into this one when I was looking for our Sept. trip. It was at my local Walmart & I put my 4yo DD in it (40" & 38 lbs) and found it was VERY NARROW for her. Her shoulders were scrunched together.

I also looked at the Graco IPO but bought a MAC Volo strictly on the weight it holds.

However your daugher might not want to sit in a stroller that much... so if you think you will just use it to zip on over to the bus and when she gets a little pooped then I would go for it.

But if you expect her to sit for a log time I would advise you to try to locate one in a store & try it...

cant wait to hear
we are debating on taking our sit and stand or 2 umbrella strollers. DD #1 will be 5 she weighs 43lbs right now and 44 in tall. DD #2 will be 11 months so trying to find a stroller for DD #1

Thanks for all of your replies. Nancy, we are so close...I work in Andover. They took shipment for you at your resort? That's fabulous-no checking on the plane! According to dimensions, it's actually wider by .5 inches than the Volo. I went to Target today but didn't see any of the strollers I'm considering:confused3. I'd love to hear what you think after your trip. Thanks again, all, I'll probably end up with the Mac from ebay due to the weight capacity, even though it IS strictly for the "pooped" times.

We have the Evenflo XSport (not plus, plus has the adjustable handles). We like it pretty good. It rolls really well and I would have to agree with previous poster on it being narrow. Son is a year-old and sometimes he puts his elbows on the outside and pulls himself forward. Also, it has a three-point harness and not five-point. My really only issue is that you have to adjust your stride or else your feet hit the back wheels. I'm 5'10" and wife is 5'9".

Turtlegirl, we're practically neighbors!

Shipping to the resort will work out great for us because we don't need it until we get there. They told me to make sure my name and check-in date were on the mailing label and that's it. Amazon actually shipped it earlier than expected so it had to sit there two weeks for us to arrive. AKL said no problem that it would be there waiting for us.

We only need it mainly at night when ds is pooped and ready to fall asleep. There is no way we could carry him to the tram/car, etc...

I wasn't able to find a floor model in Walmart, Target and other stores. I was going by the dimensions and it seemed to be a little wider than other strollers.

I'll let you know how things go when I get back.

Nancy

Have a great trip, Nancy!!!!!!!!!Looking forward to your stroller report and all other details.

I am too leaning towards the Evenflo Xsport Plus....but would love to hear more reveiws. My DS is 3 and weighs about 36lbs....I too have compared and it does seem larger then some of the other umbrella strollers :confused3.

AMazon has great reviews on this stroller. That is the only reason why I ordered it. And it was $39.99 free shipping.
We'll be using it in Sept!

It does get great reviews, but I haven't really seen any that address whether it's good for an older, larger child- most address the toddler age/weights. (As they should because younger children are in strollers but this would be for our dd6 45 lbs when she's tuckered out! Anyone have input re. bigger kids in this stroller?

I too am interested in a review of the stroller. I looked at it at Baby Depot and it looked really good. I bought a Mac Triumph for our trip (which I love, btw) and was planning to rent for my 4 year old. But with the price increase, there's no way I'm renting a stroller. So I'm debating on buying a cheaper 2nd stroller and this is the one I was looking at. So you'll definitely have to report back to us!

Thanks and have a wonderful trip!!!!

Hi guys, we just got back last night!

We got to the AKL and the stroller was there waiting for us, even after being delivered two weeks earlier! I highly recommend shipping the stroller down ahead of time.

Anyway, the stroller itself was great. My ds is 6, weighs about 46 pounds and fit in it just fine. He has long legs so when he put his feet on the strap, his knees were up a little high, but it didn't seem to bother him. The handles were padded and you can raise them up if needed, but weren't bad on the lower setting.

The basket underneath was kind of small, really couldn't put much under there. We ended up just putting our wet ponchos under there. You could fit a small bag under there if needed, but not a lot of room like a regular size stroller.

The stroller itself was light, folded easily and was easy to push. We only used it for my ds at night, but used it all the time to carry our water and snacks, which worked out great so we didn't have to carry a huge bag, just put it right in the seat. (There were 7 of us so we had LOTS of frozen water bottles each day.)

So, I give the stroller a definite thumbs up. Hope this answers any questions you had about it. I ended up giving my stroller to a family that was checking into the BoardWalk yesterday so hopefully they'll get alot of use out of it as well.

Nancy - Thank you for the review. Hope you had a great time? Did you find the stroller to be narrow like other post have commented on?

I just bought the Evenflo xsport for our October trip but have been playing around with it here. I LOVE IT !!! DS is 3 and weighs 40lbs and is 40 inches tall and fits in it very comfortably. He HATES strollers and says they are for babies, but begs me to push him around in this !!! It is alot taller than regular strollers and pushes with ease ! I know it has a 40 lb weight limit, but Im sure it will go well beyond that. The drink holders and the basket on the bottom are a huge plus, as you can hardly find these features on a small stroller !!

My Advice..... save the big bucks and buy this stroller

I didn't find it too narrow at all, not like the usual umbrella strollers.

I forgot about the drink holders, they were great! There is also a couple of zipped pockets on the organizer where the drink holders are. They were a great spot for napkins, park maps and stuff that you need to have on hand.

Thanks, we had a great trip!

Nancy

Nancy,

Thanks so much for your review. It sounds like a good buy - glad you got your money's worth. Think I'll have to give it another try. Hope the other aspects of your trip were just as good!!

I have one and am buying another one for our trip in August. Our 1 1/2 year and 6 year old dds will use them. I love how easy they are to push. I don't notice it being too narrow, but my dd 6 is very petite. The higher handles are great. The basket underneath is tiny, though. But all in all, definitely worth the $40!

I bought this stroller for DD4 for our Nov and i have used it a little here and love. It. DD is 39lbs and 41 inches. Her knees are a little high on the foot rest, but it doesn't bother her. Another great plus on this is the sun shade. Most umbrella strollers don't have them. I also love the drink holders!!
